Thai Villa Restaurant — Restaurant in North Island

We went there for the final night of our stay in Whanganui with our daughter's family. The atmosphere was great and the staff were welcoming and helpful. A huge. menu from starters to the desserts. We all unanimously agreed that the honey Coast duck was the answer, so all ordered it. I reckon that the chef was on form. All of the meals were cooked and presented the same. They came out still sizzling. The duck was superb with the meat tender and delicious and the skin was crackly. The meat nestled on a huge pile of excellently cooked fresh vegetables. Everything was amazing, but the honey sauce just outdid it all!. The roti, the moneybags, and the prawn twists were lovely, but all were outclassed by the sauces. That, to me, is the key to great food. The service was quick and friendly. We didn't have a lot of room left for dessert but managed to attack a sundae. Lovely again with a yummy chocolate sauce. Plastic flowers on the table is a very accurate indication of the service and food. Meat very dry and tough. Too much sauce and my husband was delivered his meal long before mine. If I go out to dinner with my husband I prefer to eat at the same time he does. Appalling. Terrible. Avoid this one. Overpriced and even the menu was sticky and unclean. Awful.

Your response below is a poor attempt at a cover up. The dish was not too hot for my taste, as I enjoy very spicy food. It was so hot in temperature it had clearly been microwaved, which would explain the tough meat. I asked for a dry riesling, which do exist - do your research. Tuesday 20th June 2023. Went here to grab a take away evening meal. Place was ramping up (getting busier) so adked if I could order the Lamb Shank Meal as a take home. Due to having had a significantly large order come in it was going to take about 40 mins to prepare. That was fine and the lady serving took my mobile number to call me when it was ready. Pleasant and accommodating staff. They called around yhe 35 minute mark so I went back and picked it up. Brilliant food. A couple of lamb shanks that had the meat falling off the bone.
