The Coffee Club Bethlehem Town Centre — Restaurant in North Island

We arrived for lunch on Friday 7th March just after mid day - the cafe was about 30% full. We ordered 3 lunches and coffees - orders we placed within about 10 minutes but took 45 minutes to be delivered to our table- so we would rate that as 2 out of 10. At one stage we debated whether we should leave and go elsewhere.Coffees to follow the meal were a bit more prompt. The food was fine apart from the eggs which were cold but the coffees were hot, very nice but they needed to be reminded that we had actually ordered these nearly an hour previously. Coffee Club Bethlehem seemed to have enough staff on that day but they were not very prompt at attending to customers nor in getting the lunch out to us. Just as well we werent in a hurry. From start to finish were we there for about 90 minutes so don't bother if you are in a hurry. Very nice and well cooked and presented breakfasts for 3 of us dining. The best thing though was the fantastic and friendly service. Yes, the waitress did deliver one incorrect meal , the mushroom eggs benedict instead of the mushroom omelette. She was very apologetic and got the correct meal to us in good time ie. made it top priority. We were also offered drinks for no charge and a price discount. We declined the drinks and accepted the discount. What I really liked was that they took ownership of their error and didn't make us feel that it was somehow our fault, or have such a blase attitude that you felt that they make mistakes all the time, which is what some cafes/restaurants tend to do. People, despite the majority of very good reviews this was just an ok experience for us on a fairly busy Saturday lunchtime. I had a very nice large latte & muffin, costing $13.33, making the coffee price over $7.00! My better half had a large very weak latte with surposedly a vanilla shot that could not even be tasted and a very tasty savoury scone. The cost of this was over $14 making the coffee price over $8.00! The service was pretty slow as well. We feel our experience was very pricy especially when one is not happy with the beverage standard. Needless to say a return visit will not be a happening thing! Steve...
