I am well known for eating Steak n Cheese pies and use to eat them alot, at least 5 times a week. I was told that Patricks Pies had the best pies and they had won awards etc...they would tell me i should try them so i decided i would one day.
I finally got the opportunity last week after 12 years of living here and i decided to buy my favourite pie and a prawn and garlic pie as well. 1) Unfortunately i did not like the Steak n Cheese pie simply because i like steak pieces in my pies NOT steak mince! If I wanted a mince pie i would buy one. A Steak pie to me has steak pieces in them and i have a favourite place to go to for those. 2) The prawn and garlic pie wasn't a winner for me becoz there was too much garlic in it. I managed to find a chunk of garlic which put me off eating the rest of the pie. Otherwise i am sure it is lovely to others.
Sorry my opinion is not a good one but my taste buds and what i like will be different to many others who really love the pies they get so, go and get one and decide...
Read moreHeard so much about Patrick’s pies n decided to take 4 kids n myself to try. Got there and ordered 5 pies n 2 lots of hot chips. All cold. Cherrywood bakery in Matua are 10 times better. The Asian lady at Patrick’s pies needs to find another job as she showed she wasn’t interested. Few customers turned away as you could only pay online. Then you show her your transaction to get your order. When I ordered pies and asked for two hot chips, she said we have one and it would take 15 minutes to make the other. She said, you still want two. She didn’t even know what she had in stock as there were two there. She said sorry I didn’t see that. Standing there waiting and she looks at me, as I was waiting for chips, she said you need to get them yourself. No customer service at all and will never go back again. We have 22 of us in Tauranga and also told them of our experience we had today and they have lost 22 customers and more from us. Be careful....
Read moreWe actually found this place by accident when we stopped here to find a quick snack for our family.
Whilst looking for parking, we noticed this pie place because they proudly displayed their awards in front. Winner of the best pies for many years!
My wife already ate, so she said I could pick the pies and she'll just have a few bites. As soon as we walked in, we saw a large display of the different pies they had. I picked two of their award-winning ones.
Their famous mussel pie and I can't remember the other one because the mussel pie was too good. This is coming from someone that doesn't like seafood!
Filling creamy and seasoned well, with delicious mussels. The pastry was pretty good too, but not as flaky as we liked. Also, I found them a little stingy with the filling.
In saying that, they were the best pies we had in NZ and wish we could try more...
