Stepping into Mountain Rocks Cafe is like stepping into a friend's cozy living room. Rich wooden walls, built from locally sourced logs, and vibrant colors create an inviting atmosphere that instantly warms you up. Whether you're a local catching up with friends or a visitor seeking refuge from the cold, the friendly staff makes you feel right at home.
My initial indulgence in a delicious cake was quickly trumped by the discovery of the day's soup: a leek and potato masterpiece that was pure comfort food heaven. Rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor, it was a testament to the quality ingredients and culinary skill. I can only imagine the other menu items are equally delightful, judging by the satisfied chatter from fellow diners.
The popularity of Mountain Rocks is no surprise. It's not just the warm ambiance and friendly service; it's the passion the owners pour into every detail. From the locally sourced materials to the commitment to serving the best coffee, food, and service, their dedication shines through. It's the kind of place where you can tell they truly care about your experience.
Of course, with popularity comes peak season crowds. If you're visiting during the winter rush, be prepared for a wait. But trust me, the delicious food, welcoming atmosphere, and genuine hospitality make it well worth the wait.
Highly recommended! Whether you're a local or a visitor, Mountain Rocks Cafe is a must-visit spot in Okahune. Prepare to be charmed by the ambiance, warmed by the service, and delighted...
Read moreBig breakfast - One way overcooked poached egg, one way undercooked, pool of vinegar on the plate which soaked into the toast. Cheap bacon and the sausages were also crap. Coffee was a waste of time. Service was poor, I ordered before 5 others who got their food well before me. Nice enough people but that's it.
Thanks for your response, I'll elaborate on the coffee because I am probably being a touch unfair - My first coffee was good, however my second was not. At first I thought it was just because of the taste of vinegar had altered the way I tasted the coffee but the person I was with who also had two coffees and he said both were bad (without me asking).
Like I said you and your team were nice enough people and I wouldn't just make this up, you quite possibly could have just had a bad morning which could be out of character for your cafe and I also noted a number of locals purchasing coffee so I could have just been unlucky. In saying that, this was the experience I had in your cafe and the review stands at one star (pretty hard to stuff up eggs so badly). I do appreciate the response and I hope you take the feedback on board rather than getting upset and because you responded and clearly care about your customers I will come back next time I'm in the area to give you another shot and do...
Read moreThis charming cafe at Ohakune is a delightful area, the staff are more accommodating compared to the other resto we've been during our stay at this town.
The outside of the place doesn't look like anything special, but the entrance seems like it's inviting you inside and try their food! A warm ambiance, earthy and full of life interiors, your eyes will feast on the details on each corner of this place.
The cabinet is full of scrumptious meals, well we decided to trial out their menu. The serving portion are large, can be shared if you are not much of a big eater. Price is definitely reasonable.
One of their staff, Agus (hope I have spelt it right), went above and beyond to serve us. We have a baby with us, so I have asked one of the staff for a high chair, to then she just answered "it's there" pointing to a place. Though that was okay, I went "there" and didn't see any high chair. Would be really nice if she could have offered one to get it and help me, as I was with my bub, but nope. Well, I would not dwell on that anyways, the rest of the experience was great! Would be back to taste the other food they had, we were really full...
