Dishes that I highly recommend from this place: Wat tan hor Char kuey teow Chicken rice
Wat tan hor is one of the best in Auckland in my opinion. Flat rice noodle was nicely cooked and served with egg gravy on top. If this is going to be your first visit to Ipoh, I will suggest you to try this dish or chicken rice. Chicken rice doesn’t taste like Hainanese style chicken rice though but still taste good. The chicken was very tender and they serve the chicken together with bean sprout and small bowl of soup. Char kuey teow was served with generous amount of fried pork lard and the noodle was delicious.
This place gets really busy during lunch and dinner hour so either you come earlier or later to avoid the crowds. Also, the whole place become very crowded when they separate the table for small group (2people) , people standing nearby the entrance or walkway waiting for tables, waiters walking around to take orders and serve food. Its a nice Malaysian eatery place with modern interior however you probably can’t really enjoy it when it’s packed with people.
Staff are very helpful and friendly but they might not be able to be as attentive during busy hour so please be a little considerate when they respond a little slow upon your request.
Despite the slower service and crowded environment during busy hour, I will still visit Ipoh when I feel like eating...
Read moreYou wouldn't expect much from a newly opened restaurant but this place looks to be doing ok. It says they are open for breakfast but they weren't open until about 1100 when we went. They have quite a few tables so once you go in grab a table and you get a menu and water. Once you're ready, go to the counter to order and pay. The menu isn't super large but does have quite a few Malaysian favourites. We just ordered a regular size and the portions were decent for that. We ordered their chicken satay, Chicken Laksa, char kueh teow and chicken rice. It didn't take too long for the food to come out, around 10 minutes. The food came as it was ready so we ended up having the satay last. The satay had a nice flavour, the sauce was quite nice but not very spicy. The char kueh teow was quite nice, good char flavour (almost burnt but not) but it was a bit on the salty side. The laksa was also quite nice, good flavour. The chicken rice was ok, a fairly small portion of chicken and the rice didn't have that nice oil rice flavour. The soup had a good chicken flavour to it though. The food here is really nice. Hopefully it will get better with...
Read moreI recently dined at a charming Malaysian restaurant that left a lasting impression with its delicious and authentic cuisine. The warm and inviting atmosphere set the stage for an exceptional dining experience.
The flavors were nothing short of sensational. The fragrant aroma of spices filled the air as I savored each dish. The 海南雞飯 was a standout, featuring fragrant coconut rice served with tender rendang beef and an assortment of condiments. The satay skewers were perfectly grilled and paired with a rich peanut sauce.
What truly set this restaurant apart was the authenticity of the cuisine. It was evident that they used traditional recipes and high-quality ingredients to create a remarkable culinary experience.
The service was impeccable, with staff who were not only knowledgeable about the menu but also enthusiastic about sharing their cultural insights.
