I am one of the hugest foodies you'll come across and after moving to the region two years ago, I haven't enjoyed the food culture here. IMHO, There's only 2 delicious takeaways, that are awesome. but one of those are losing points from me after change of ownership. I beliebe this restaurant topped them both Last night on whim we decided to pull into this restaurant for the first time and I ordered
X2 starter Tikka chicken with mint sauce or whatever it is. X2 butter chickens and rice X2 garlic Naan X2 cheesy garlic naan
And I absolutely "SHITE YOU NOT"; it was the BEST experience I have had in Nelson for 2 years.
Upom arriving, i exolained i had a terrivle experience at another indian restaurant her in tasman, and the person at the counter was so calm and patiet and made me feel at ease immediately. He was so professional and i really enjoyed our interaction. He also made me feel comfotable because i walked in with dressing gown on. Im a night shift worker and went out to pick up food before heading back to bed again. And he was so awesome about the whole interaction and allowed me to grab my takeaway order with no issue or judgement at all.
The Chicken Tikka starter was phenomenal. I actually only personally.know this dish as Chicken Pakaora (not sure of spelling) and it comes with this nice mint sauce. In the past, I've only had them deep fried. In this restaurant, they flame grill it and it has such a phenomenal smoky flavor, with a their blend of tumeric, Indian spices and paprika. I can still taste the smokiness on my lips. (Disclaimer: I just ate the rest đ¤) When I bit into the chicken. You could literally see their spiced thay had been rubbed right into the very "nook" of the chicken. Every part of the chicken had been rubbed. Incredible. Better yet, they also provided the same green mint sauce and it was exactly the same as my favouritr Indiam restaurant up north. Like exactly.
The butter.chicken had such a nice blend and wasn't overpowered by sugar and cream. The chicken had been marinated and then grilled in some hot flame or something. Just like the chicken Tikka ghe smoky flavourful was right on your lips, except it was so rich and delicious cutting through their butter chicken flavors. You could taste the spices and they were not at all hot, and I think Bay leave I am not sure, oh maybe they put those little brown like stalk things, kind of looks like a flathead pin. Idk, kd you figure it out, we'll done. Personally, I wish I had gotten a medium or hot dish because I wanted more of whatever they done with their flavors. I had such a phenomenal experience with them. The mild would be absolutelt perfect for anyone who doesn't particularly like hot spices, but enjoys Butter chicken. For those of us who don't mind heat, go for.mediumm. I'm definitely going to next time.
The cheesy Naan bread caused me to "drop a knee"!!!!! That was the most amazing Naan bread I have ever had and it was a such a memorable moment when I bit into it. I ate a whole slice straight away. I thought Naaan bread were always burnt and thin. This was so soft, and fluffy and was like, not burnt at all. The texture was almost like a malk bun texture. I mean, ARE YOU SERIOUS GUYS!! The garlic Naan bread was great, my only wish was to maybe coat it with some garlic butter or oil to give it some moisture.
Honestly, it was an absolute privilege to experience this last night and i truly hope that the experience i had, will be bestowed upon the next customer. To eat every bite with an expression of "omg", "woooow", "mmmmmhm", "heaveeeeen", "oh they better just stop riiiight now", the "ooohs" and "aahs" was an absolute pleasure. Thank you so much for putting so much love and cqre into the food. Your passion for the restaurant is highlighted and emphasized in every single bite.
I gave 4 stars for â˘ATMOSPHERE⢠because it just cant hold my entire family and had minimal parking space. If it was a bigger venue, it would of gotten 5 stars across the board.
THank you so much. we will most...

Door sticks badly and difficult to open.
Wouldnât prepare a green salad for us, reason given was chef was too busy and it takes time to chop everything up! Sure they have takeaway customers but we were the only seated customers while we were there!
Daughter saw them pour out our surplus ginger beer down the sink! 3 Glasses were fill as they had added ice cubes which we wouldnât have wanted anyway, itâs the middle of winter now after all! And even so I paid for 3 bottles of ginger beer and they have no right tipping any out!
Left standing at the counter to pay with no one attending and no bell there. Staff came out and attended to takeaway customer then went back out back and alerted no one that we were waiting there!
Next day a plenty good tummy bug all day!...
Read moreThe waiter absolutely rude and disrespectful, first time dined in, asked if it was ok to sit outside with a dog and he said âyes as long as heâs outsideâ. Then second time with the dog i was about to order and asked for a simple ice cream container of water as it was hot and the dog needed water and the same waiter said âno we donât give water, we canât do that.â I had argued as he mentioned previously dogs are allowed in the outside area then he went on âdogs are not allowed here and not allowedâ will never come here again and will not pay to be disrecpted too while on the phone and the waiter had been standing at staring at me as I gestures for him to come back as I was on the phone and wasnât ready to order and he got angry. Very rude waiter. Wonât dine in if he is there. Tall man with bald...
