When the sun is shining, go out for breakfast! This is a motto I have lived my life by, and it never seems to put me wrong! While cycling around the area, my wife and I felt a little peckish, so decided to pop into one of the many cafes in Richmond. We had never been to this particular spot before, and it looked busy. There were also a few seats available in the outdoor dining space at the rear of the cafe. Sold! Entering the cafe, we placed our order at the counter. Coffees (of course!), French toast with bacon, bananas and maple syrup, and Bacon and eggs on sour dough. There was also a large array of fresh and delicious looking food in the cabinet, but we had our minds made up!! First came the coffee, and this was delivered to our table by a friendly young school aged man, obviously working to make some money over the weekend. The coffee was good and was a great way to start the meal. We did not have to wait long for the food, and given how busy the cafe was, this was great to see and describes a well run kitchen. The French Toast was nice and crisp, covered in bacon and bananas. A couple of minor criticisms here, the bacon could have been a bit crisper, but I did like how it was chopped up, making it easier to portion and jam into my mouth! Also a bit more syrup would have been nice, perhaps not on the plate but in a small jar so that I could pour it on if needed. These are only minor issues and definitely personal preference. The eggs were fried nicely, with runny, rich yolks. Again, the bacon was chopped up, and could have been a little crispier. All in all, a good breakfast, wonderful friendly service which felt genuinely family orientated. The outdoor dining area was the star of the morning, and we will...

Although the service was very friendly and quick, I was extremely disappointed that the coffee arrived in single use disposable cups with lids even though we were consuming in-house. The food was delivered on paper bags with single use plastic cutlery, plus we were supplied with small bowls of cream that were not requested or required (=food waste) It kind of beggars belief that in these times when awareness of the environmental consequences of our actions is widespread, that you have deliberately chosen to be part of the problem. I hope you might reconsider your decision to be a polluter and think about embracing a sustainable business plan and caring about your planet. Sorry, but until you do, we...

This morning's kai and kāwhe is bought to you courtesy of #coffeeonqueen #coffeeonqueenrichmond and what beautiful kai it was. The kāwhe and frappe was really ka pai, too.

I thought Kāwhe on Queen Richmond was just a kāwhe cafe with cabinet kai (& a beautiful, mouth-watering cabinet it was), but noooooo, it also has a great breakfast and lunch menu too.

Service was excellent, the atmosphere was pleasant, ka pai background music, hum of quiet conversations, lot's of people in and out. Certainly, the place to be for your kāwhe and kai needs...

"eggs bene our way" = cheapest possible way. Its literally one half of a ciabatta bun from the packs at the supermarket. A fried egg? Where is the poached? some bacon with no flavour. To be fair it was cheap but I've paid the same amount everywhere else and been served 2 poached eggs with big peices of sourdough etc. Coffee was weak and tasted soapy. Don't understand the reviews at all.
