This review is purely on our experience today...we, being my Mum and myself have been to Titi a number of times over the past 2 years for the Feed Me lunch..today was the 1st time under the new management.....I had booked for 12pm but needed to change to 1pm, so I left a phone message around 10:45am. I received a call back within the hour by the man I now know to be the new owner.....when I answered my phone, he didn't introduce himself or even say where he was calling from.. I just got " um we had a missed call from you!"...I had to ask who he was or where he was ringing me from ...finally he said Titi...so I did think..gosh that's not a great start....he was however very accommodating to the time change. We arrived and had a lovely window seat, the man(owner) we were never told his name...came over with water and then proceeded to get every menu out of the stand and place them all on the table for us...including the cocktails, the wines, feed me, a la carte...it was a bit strange but we went with it.....we explained that mum was allergic to banana and if we both did the Feed Me could she substitute another dessert which he kindly agreed to.....so we both ordered the Feed Me menu. As always the Dicey Chenin Blanc is superb, even at $18 a glass. We also noticed the Feed Me prices had changed, it used to be $45 or $55 with a house glass of wine. Ok so the food.....I'm sorry but it was a let down from what we have experienced in the past. The Haloumi entree was bland and if not for the hummus or chutney and really small broken pieces of lavosh, it was just a slab of cheese on a plate. The beef Cheek was cooked beautifully, the puree nice but quite sweet, and it was just accompanied by some carrots and the dessert...OMG but such a disappointment on a plate...truely underwelming, no colour, no finesse...and the Banana Cremeaux tasted like rotten Bananas that had been frozen...I could not eat it! And the " suprise dessert" for mum, was 3 icecream balls on some biscuit crumb and peanuts...bizarre and boring. We sadly looked back upon photos of previous meals...the colours, the finish, the presentation....unfortunately for us has gone down hill. We understand there can be teething issues when new owners take the reigns...but for us today just missed the mark. We do wish you all the best, but based on today's food we...

From the moment we arrived at Tītī, we knew we were in for something special. Greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality, the staff set the tone for what would become a truly memorable evening.
We chose Tītī to celebrate our son’s 21st birthday – a milestone worthy of an exceptional experience. He invited a group of friends, many of whom are students, including one studying to be a chef. That aspiring chef left the table singing praises – and for good reason.
The five-course tasting menu was a journey through refined flavours, textures, and seasonal ingredients that showcased the brilliance of modern New Zealand cuisine. As Māori, I’ll admit I was initially a little unsure – tasting menus can be light – but by the third course, I was surprisingly full, and by dessert, completely satisfied. Each dish was plated with precision and heart, delivering not only beauty but bold, balanced flavour in every bite.
From the delicate entrée to the final course, every dish surprised and delighted. The attention to detail was evident – not just in the food, but in the service and ambiance. Our son’s birthday dinner felt both intimate and indulgent, a celebration of not just age, but culinary craftsmanship.
After the final spoonful of dessert – which, like everything before it, was flawless – I found myself needing a walk along the beach to take it all in. That post-dinner stroll was the perfect ending to a perfect evening.
Tītī Restaurant is a gem – a place where food, culture, and memory intersect. Whether you’re marking a special occasion or simply craving something extraordinary, it’s well worth the visit. We’ll be talking about this night for...
Read moreMy wife can sometimes be over the top with relation to food. She booked tītī as soon as we book our flight to Dunedin. We arrived and pretty much went straight to Titī for lunch. We love the atmosphere, the service was warm and welcoming, when we arrived they put us in the best spot with a busy toodler and already setup a colouring spot for her. We had the three course menu options and our daughter ordered fish and chip from kids menu. Our first impression was, wow.. wow.. wow.. $35 for 3 course.. I would not be complaining for this. Then when we tried the food, BAM!!!! Everything was awesome and something we would not eat anywhere else, smart use of ingredients and balancing of all aspect with the crunch, the tang, the meat/veggie. We tried the market fish and summer beef salad, my favourite of the day have to be the beef salad, the meat melted in my mouth. So yum! The desert was delicious too. We were lucky that the kids menu portion is rather too big for our almost 3 years old, so she kindly let us tried her food, OMG! I am not oversaturated but that was the best fish and chip that I ever tried in my life (or for a long long time). The chip is crisp and soft in the middle. The fish, wow.. the batter was crispy, with soft fish. Yummmm... the fish and chip also accompanied with sunday ice cream that my daughter pretty much try to lick to the last drop of liquid ice cream left on the bowl. We definitely will come back again. If only we stay here long enough we will be back early next week. We even contemplating to come back for tomorrow dinner. It is that good. Thank you so much tītī for beautiful meals with warming and welcoming service plus the view was...
