We arrived as a team to eat dinner at the Equinox. The young lady who greeted us at the entrance didn’t even say hello and she was awfully rude in her mannerism when she pointed next door and said “you’re over there” instead of leading us in the correct direction. The food was okay. We didn’t get the menu particulars because had we got them we would’ve known that the roast was slightly spicy / peppery and the Katsu chicken was spicy too. A heads up would’ve been great for our team. I’m sorry to say but pavlova is a sweet dessert best served with a sweet berry compote. We were served the pavlova with a watered down tomato chutney which we were told it was plum sauce. When we took it up to the owner to share our concerns, he said he’s never had a complaint about the sauce so we asked him to try it. He said it was fine. But it wasn’t. It was not fine. Worst dining experience of my life. We waited an hour and forty five minutes for our meals while people kept being seated later than us and leaving before we had even received our food. After enquiring twice I got told an hour and a half in that our food was ten minutes away and that they would bring out complimentary food, I said “we are very hungry”. No food came out apart from our meals. We got told there would be a 15% discount when we paid. When I went and paid I asked three times if the discount had been applied and was told it was …it wasn’t. At this point I had had enough and demanded more than 15%. I ordered the Pork Belly I expected crackle and moist Pork unfortunately the outside of the meat was so overcooked no crispy crunchy crackle soft skin with a sauce crispy carrots that had no taste beetroot and kumara chips My meal cost won’t say Out of my entire meal I ate 3 Kumara Chips and a couple bits of pork which were the most moist part of the Pork. There are 3 of us that go for dinner once a month we have turns of selecting different eating places Equinox was my choice my friends did enjoy most of their meal.
