The Platform Brew Bar — Restaurant in South Island

Went there Friday night, great venue but was very disappointed by the Gluten Free snack options. There was only bread and they couldn’t tell me if the fries were Gluten Free by ingredient. Hoping the Main menu is better but from what I’ve seen it isn’t. The old owners had more options for snacks. Also staff should be more educated on the menu, perhaps they need to look at what similar bar places are offering. Edit: I have seen your reply and understand you can't cater to all and have every single item available I get that, I suggest you read my review properly, I didn't say the Main menu didn't have options but all your staff showed me was one with steak and burgers and the pizza options, people often want bar snacks not a full meal. As you can see from my review the staff couldn't even tell me if fries were an option and I did ask (they never said they would check for me, so next time I will ask them to) the old menu had alot more options so I am just telling you my experience. Maybe take on board the review as not a bad thing, I eat out regularly all over NZ due to my job and just about every place I have been to has things like fried chicken, arancini balls, polenta fries, calamari as GF snack options and fries! Bread and pizza is not what I would consider a great bar snack. My husband and I came here for dinner the other night for my birthday. It was very disappointing.

When we entered no one came to greet us, we had to walk to the bar where all the waiters/waitresses were. They saw us come in but didn’t make an effort to come to us. So we walked to them. The lady showed us to our seats, we thought she would be back soon to take our drinks order… 15-20mins later still no waitress in sight to take our drinks order. I ended up having to wave another waitress down when she walked past our table. We ordered our drinks and mains at the same time. 10minutes later our drinks came, and then another 20minutes later our food arrived.

I ordered the Ribeye medium rare with salad and chips which was $42!! I have attached a photo to show you how highly disappointed I was of this dish. The chips looked and tasted like home chips in the air fryer, the salad was so small with no flavour. The steak was basically well done when I ordered medium rare. No one came and checked on us and asked us how our meal was. The restaurant was not busy at all, so I don’t know where or what the waiters were doing. Another disappointing thing was we didn’t even get any water or get asked if we wanted dessert.

So basically there was really no service at all. We won’t be coming back unfortunately. It was a shame as it was my birthday.

Very disappointing, Sunday lunch , we live locally and like to dine locally to support our small town. I won't be coming back in a hurry. Location great, service terrible.I came for a birthday lunch, waited, waited for drinks after ordering, waiting for our meals, waiting for table to he cleared , forty five minutes after finishing our meal. Waited thirty five minutes for dessert which was a small burnt pie, after the order. Staff had no idea, kept disappearing out into the kitchen not looking at customers. Two actually stopoed serving sat down at a table and ate while we waited for dessert. Water was out in our table while waiting for dessert, crazy.Two and half hours later we finished . Ridiculous, the floor had pieces of fluff and very dirty, two brooms sitting in the corner of the restaurant, hardly hygenic, Food not cheap so we do expect better than this.
