The biggest issue I have with the place is they operate the shop the Chinese way: I booked a table at 7, when we arrive they dont actually have a table for you, and they make you wait by providing you with free beverages. Some people might be ok with it but not us. Please honor the booking system that you put in place instead of being dishonest! If you tell people that you don’t take booking and they come and they’ll be willing to wait, just be honest! this is New Zealand for crying out loud! The waitresses are nice but still please don’t run the business like it’s in China! Another issue is there are power cables lying around, which could be a very dangerous thing considering you’re carrying hot boiling chilli oil around 🤦🏿 Also why are there 2 hotpot places right next to each other? They better be owned by the same people or that’s just a dxxk move opening next to someone doing the same thing, again that’s very Chinese and that’s why you have a bad image on the world stage 🤦🏿 Another suspicious find: the high review score is created by a lot of seemingly fake 5...
Read moreThis is the first time I've ever felt the need to leave a bad review for a restaurant — that's how disappointed I am.
The food is overpriced for what you get. On top of that, they charged the wrong amount at checkout—although they refunded the overcharge two days later, it's still frustrating and unprofessional even through there was in the middle of night with not many customers.
We also ordered Slow Cooked Pork Trotters, but they never brought it. When I asked after we finished eating, they just said, "Oh, we’re out of stock." No notice during the meal, and they didn’t even bother to remove it from the order upfront until I asked them to do so.
Also, the rice was half-cooked—hard in the middle and unpleasant to eat. The food that we are ordered might have something wrong, after dining in, 3 out of 6 people got diarrhea.
Overall, a bad experience. Poor communication and food, bad service, and definitely not...
Read moreThe restaurant is one of the many hotpot restaurants in Albany. This one is on the first level and fairly easy to spot as they have tents outside. We booked for a tent, which is on the balcony area just outside the restaurant. You scan the QR code on the table to order food and drinks. For the hotpot you need to order the soup base too. There is no difference between a single or a double soup base. We went with the double to try two different bases, the golden chicken and the tomato. You can order a range of different items to put into the hotpot and tailor it to what you want. You are also able to pay extra to get access to their condiments. we grabbed meat and other items to share. I really like the salted egg dough and the coconut fried mochi. It was a nice place for hotpot but it can add up quite fast when you pick a range of different...
