Had a reservation for dinner for 20 people on a Sunday. Booked a week in advance. They say us outside which was okay because it had a heater and shade. This restaurant was severely under prepared. They even mentioned we were their largest ever group.
They have no jugs/kettles, so if everybody wanted water, we had to get 1 glass at a time from inside, including refills.
They constantly ran out of cutlery. We had to wait for forks/spoons for dinner and dessert. It's like there wasn't enough for the entire restaurant.
They sold out of dumplings, Naan and one spicy soup dish. Considering we traveled far for this place and gave so much notice about the size of our group, you would think they would be prepared. Definitely not the case.
The food they did provide though: Skewers were nice, not amazing but nice. Meat wasn't very soft. Kung pow chicken I'd rate about 6/10. I asked for all spicy food, and could not taste any spice in the food.
I'd like to come back to try the dumplings but not in any rush to come back here. This is my first negative experience with a restaurant and have never given less than 5 stars but I really hope these guys turn their restaurant around as I love that they're fully halal and need more halal restaurants around. I want this place to succeed but with what we got during this dinner service, I don't see how it can happen.
Staff seemed over whelmed but still friendly and nice, despite some language barrier with the older staff members. Younger staff members which spoke English, were very helpful despite being over whelmed with our table...
Read moreThis new Chinese cuisine restaurant seems very popular: there's always a queue for meals. So, I visited with my partner and her friends today for the first time. Since this restaurant is always busy, we arrived before 5 pm, the opening hour, to secure a good spot indoors.
We ordered several dishes: the popular lamb skewers with naan bread, beef ramen, spicy beef dried noodles, dried wide rice noodles, and a salad-like noodle dish — a variety of noodle dishes. The quality was overall average, but the portions were generous. We especially enjoyed the spicy dried noodles and beef ramen. The skewers were also tasty, but the naan bread was disappointing. Additionally, we ordered a side dish set for an extra $5.
Everything was self-served, and payment in advance was required. The staff was quite friendly, providing us with good guidance for our first visit.
I enjoyed the food, but there are also other good Chinese cuisine restaurants nearby, so I'm not sure about its uniqueness. Nonetheless, I do recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a new Chinese noodle...
Read moreLaobai's Lanzhou beef noodles are really the most authentic bowl of noodles you have ever eaten in Auckland! The noodles are strong and elastic, fragrant and smooth in the mouth, and each one is full of wheat fragrance; the soup base is clear and rich, and the beef is tender and delicious, with the real aroma of Lanzhou. The portion is sufficient, the side dishes are fresh, and the combination of coriander and radish slices is just right, which makes people unable to stop one bite after another. The environment in the store is clean and tidy, the service is warm and thoughtful, and the boss is kind and passionate, so that people can feel the warmth of their hometown in foreign countries. The price is affordable, and it's worth a special trip! Highly recommended to all friends who love noodles, the absolute return rate is...
