What a disappointing experience, enticed by the smells of the area (so many noodle eateries clustered together) I settled on this place as it had the most people and I usually see this as a good sign... It transpires they are a couple dollars cheaper than there neighbours and inflation is on the rise I suppose! I ordered the spicy beef noodles. I'm not afraid of spice, but as I was grabbing a quick lunch I didn't want to be overwhelmed with a spicy lunch experience. I enquired and the gentleman who took the order informed me I could opt for a 'mild spicy beef noodles.
I was surprised when a gentleman sitting at the table I joined left pretty much his entire meal and left the restaurant. But then my meal arrived. I'm fairly certain this restaurant directly taps into the earth's magma (nice play given the disgusting wet summer we've had!) And on the way up they empty the remaining supply of chilly that wasn't washed away in the floods. They then chuck in some gangly beef pieces and what is possibly a slight improvement on supermarket dried spaghetti. Where I was hoping for rich flavourful broth I was instead left with an inedible meal on two counts - temperature and spice. I truly hope they simply got my order wrong and I didn't get the mild I ordered as if this is mild, combined with the sheer heat of the broth I received, the hot version would melt through any vessel it encountered.
Long story short - don't be cheap - pay the couple extra dollars and go to one of...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer of Eden Noodle on Dominion Road for many years, ever since they first opened. The consistency and quality of their food have always been commendable, even as they’ve made some changes over time. However, my experience at Eden Noodle Albany was a major disappointment.
The food here tasted completely different from the Dominion Road branch—lacking the same depth of flavor and authenticity. It did not meet the standards I’ve come to expect from Eden Noodle, which was very disappointing.
Service was another letdown. Given that this is a Chinese restaurant, it’s reasonable to expect staff to engage with Chinese-speaking customers in Mandarin, especially when addressed in the language. However, despite multiple attempts to order and ask questions in Mandarin, the staff did not respond in kind, even though they clearly spoke the language. This was frustrating and unexpected.
Adding to the disappointment, when we dined there, we noticed that there were no Asian or Chinese customers eating at the restaurant—something that speaks volumes about its reputation within the community.
Overall, the food, the service, and the atmosphere did not live up to the Eden Noodle name. I won’t be returning to...
Read moreI want to start off by saying that I will not be going back to this place. Why? The food was not appetizing at all, broth was bland, noodles were tough and our beef slices were especially hard to chew and swallow. "Braised beef" really felt like they boiled beef and served it like that with nothing else. Really disappointing, i always get braised beef noodle soup whenever I go eat Chinese, this was not it. The staff, appalling, they don't really care about you at all. To add, the place is super cramped. Your seat is touching the person on the other table and there's so little room. The place is also not very tidy, so it's a bit messy. The only redeeming quality of this place is their price. 14 dollars now for a bowl of noodles isn't bad. But I still wouldn't come here when there are better Chinese restaurants just next door that are cleaner, tastier, and...
