Aroma has recently opened in Albany and I wanted to try their coconut noodles. We came by after 1200 after having yum cha nearby. They didn't have any noodles at the time (sounded like they were ready around 1400) so I was a bit disappointed. I ended up going with the taro lover sweet bowl. For the bowl, there is an option of coconut or milk tea and I opted for the milk tea. The bowls were single served but wasn't too small. I quite liked the tea and the taro items. A friend had the Thai tea bingsu with a side of mochi and it was quite nice. The mochi had a nice texture and a milky flavour. Another friend also had the mango sago coconut pudding, which was made inside a coconut. There were a few tables inside the shop and a bit more outside. There is a menu on the counter and we paid for the items, got a buzzer and it was brought to the table. When it got busy you did have to go up to the counter to pick up the food. They also had savoury items. I quite liked the dessert here and it was a bit different. I am still interested in trying the coconut noodles though.
edit: tried the mango sagow tih coconut noodles. The noodles were more jelly like than noodle like. The mango sago was nice with the mango as the soup. Friend had the milk tea beauty bowl and it had a lot of interesting...
Read moreHi there,I give 5 stars to the Instagram marketing person as they have done an amazing job advertising the desserts. However, we are quite disappointed after a few of us gathered together all excited to try out the desserts that looked so amazing on Instagram. We especially drove out to Albany just to try your dessert. The marketing/advertising from Instagram is great, but we were very disappointed with the desserts we ordered. We ordered four desserts.
Here are some of the feedback that we hope you will take into consideration:
-The portion size of the dessert was very small with very little topping. The price for these desserts were not really worth it. -The taste of the desserts was quite bland. Every dessert we ordered tasted the same. The only difference was the different toppings. -The desserts were meant to be hot desserts, but came out fairly warm (leaning towards cold). -One of the desserts was a bit too sweet.
We did not get the chance to try the coconut pudding and that might be different, however it was all sold out.
There are many other chinese dessert places out there to try but we decided to try Aroma out because we thought it would be good due to what we saw on Instagram. We were fairly disappointed and unlikely to...
Read moreGot it! Here’s the revised review with a direct mention of Aroma Dessert Studio in Albany for added clarity:
The food at Aroma Dessert Studio in Albany falls somewhere between “not good” and “just okay.” However, the reason I’m giving this 1-star review is because of what happened after. My wife and I dined there 24 hours ago, and we’re still dealing with stomach aches and constant trips to the toilet. I don’t know if there was something wrong with our food or if it had anything to do with the fact that we dined just before closing (around 9 PM). Out of courtesy, we even packed up our food 15 minutes before they closed so they wouldn’t need to stay late for us.
The only good thing I can say is that the lady at the counter was very helpful with our requests.
The atmosphere, unfortunately, was just as disappointing as the food. We understand it was the end of the day, but no one greeted us with a smile, which made what should’ve been a delightful dessert outing awkward. To make it worse, sitting near the exit meant dealing with the smell of smoke.
To the management: Please advise your staff not to smoke outside the store, especially if you’re branding it as a family-friendly place. You never know when families with children...
