I recently had the pleasure of dining at 1981 Noodle House in Albany, Auckland, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The restaurant is nestled in a quaint and relaxing location, and from the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how spotlessly clean and inviting the place felt.
I decided to try the beef offal noodle soup, and it did not disappoint. The noodles were absolutely sublime, with just the right amount of chew—truly some of the best I’ve had. The portion size was generous, ensuring that I left feeling completely satisfied. The soup itself was a savory sensation; the offal added a rich depth of flavor, and the protein was perfectly tender. Fresh, crisp veggies accompanied the dish, providing a wonderful balance of textures.
While I expected a bit more spice from the noodles, the fragrant complimentary chili oil provided the perfect kick I was looking for. A dash more coriander would have elevated the dish even further, but overall, the flavors were delightful and well-balanced.
The combined quality of the food, the serene ambiance, and the attentive service made my visit to 1981 Noodle House a truly enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this hidden gem for anyone looking to indulge in delicious, authentic noodle dishes in Auckland. Can't wait to return and explore more...
Read moreLunch time for work, this place was close by. As you walk in, you notice how clean and presentable it is. As I go to the menu, I found that you can choose the thickness of the noodle, which is an option you don't normally have, and which I was pretty happy about as I love Kuan style noodles. It's also nice to see a worker make the noodles and broth in the kitchen. It's pretty cool to watch.
Braised beef noodles soup 9.5/10 I don't normally give 9s, but this is necessary. Broth amazing beef was very tender, generous coriander, which I love, and the noodles were next level. So fresh, was literally made when I ordered, exceptional.
Spring rolls 7.5/10 Super crunchy. Enjoyed with them with the vinegar on the table over the sweet chili sauce it came with. It was a standard good side.
Must try if you're in the area. Was happy with customer service, and if you're into chinese noodle shops, this place will...

First of all, although the price of this establishment is slightly higher than the average, what you get in return is worth it. The dry spicy braised beef noodles were incredible.
The sauce was a complex concoction of different spices that emanated a distinct aroma that filled the restaurant. It was a good amount of spice, combining this with the fresh noodles made for a unforgettable experience. The beef was incredibly tender and just fell apart as soon as you sink your teeth into it. Releasing a bomb of stewed goodness.
Final point is that the store is incredibly clean. Great how you can also see your noodles being made through a glass window.
Overall, the price is right for some delicious noodles. It's a perfect pick if you want to get a different perspective of the current spicy beef noodle landscape. Can't...
