Very very poor service and would never go back!! A friend and I were the only Pacific Islanders there the night we went and when we walked in we were met at the door and immediately sat on a table outside (before we could even walk in). She didn’t even ask us if that table was okay for us or if we wanted to sit inside. We then requested if we could sit at another table considering we were most probably gonna order a lot and needed the space because it was one small table, not to mention it wasn’t a busy night at all (and there were a lot of tables available inside and outside the whole night) but she said no because we are only two people
.Not long after we were seated another Asian couple around our age walked in and weren’t even met at the door and got to choose where they wanted to sit regardless of the fact they were only two people too. The table we were sat at was also in a very awkward place, it was the only table placed in the middle area (more like in the way) close to the door. where as all the other tables were in rows on each side of us. (There was also so many seats available and we got seated there right next to another family). Then after we were seated and ordered food, we looked around and notice that there were a lot of people who only came in two’s sitting at bigger tables yet we were put on a single table trying to fit all four plates and drinks. the server also wasn’t as hospitable towards us as she was to the people sitting right next to us and seemed to give us a very different energy. From the moment we walked in I felt very uneasy and uncomfortable and by the time we had already ordered our food I was ready to just leave!! even when she served our food she didn’t even place it down properly it was like she was slamming it so loud on the table or almost throwing it on the table and sliding it across. We were also served with a silver knife and a small bamboo fork with only one serviette at our table. The vibes were definitely off, I don’t know what it was but we definitely did not feel welcome there and I was very caught off guard as that was my first experience like this and first time there. I would never ever go back there ! Worst...

After Mr. Hao Albany was replaced with the new Vietnamese restaurant Saigon Commune, I found myself missing the old place. It used to be my regular date night spot with my partner, so I was surprised to learn of the change.

The new signature dish, 'What the Pho,' was quite funny name and made it interesting. At $22, the average price on the menu is quite reasonable, which I appreciate. One highlight was the half-and-half Banh Mi and Pho option, perfect for those wanting to sample two dishes at once.

On our visit, we ordered the half-and-half Banh Mi & Beef Pho, Banh Xeo (Crispy rice cracker with Prawns), Bun Bo Hue Noodles XL, and some beers. The Banh Xeo was particularly yummy, wonderfully crispy and flavourful. However, the other dishes were just okay: the flavors seemed a bit muted compared to those of other Vietnamese restaurants. Perhaps they used fewer spices, but whatever the reason, they lacked the punch I was expecting. While the portion sizes were decent, they felt a tad small given the prices.

Next time, I'm keen to try the skewers, as I did love the...

Very poor service. Horrible experience. We were informed sitting on a reserved table in the middle of our dinner and there was no reserved sign when we sat there and no one told us it’s a reserved table when we placed our order or been served with our meal. What’s more, what the staff has said is not “ this is a reserved table, sorry for didn’t tell you promptly, would you please...” what they have said is “you see, you guys sat here without discussion with us, it’s a reserved table, so you need to eat in a hurry”. When we arrived the restaurant, there were two spare tables without any reservation sign and there was no queue. What’s wrong with we choosing a spare table to sit down in that situation? And if you could inform us this after served us serval courses, why not told us when we sat down or when you received our order? So ridiculous. We paid for the courses that have been served then took the leftover away. We drove 20mins from our home to the restaurant and “finished “ our...

Disappointing Pho - Bland and Lacking Flavor I recently visited this Vietnamese pho restaurant, and unfortunately, I left quite underwhelmed. The food was, in a word, mediocre. I ordered the shrimp and crab roe pho, expecting a burst of seafood flavor, especially the distinct richness of crab roe. Instead, it was completely devoid of any crab roe taste whatsoever. It was incredibly bland. The beef marrow pho was equally disappointing. There was absolutely no depth of meaty flavor that you'd expect from a well-made beef broth. Honestly, I've had pre-packaged meals that tasted better than what was served here. Overall, the experience was very underwhelming. I cannot recommend this restaurant if you're looking for authentic and flavorful Vietnamese pho.

My first review and Mr Hao definitely deserved a 5 star. Great food and service. The BBQ lamb skews are one of the best in Auckland. The newly released BBQ lamb rack was amazing, crunchy on the outside and tender inside with just the right amount of seasoning. We've ordered none spicy one because of the kids. It was quite impressive that nice lady noticed the lamb rack cooked was spicy and served another none spicy one without us knowing it. I don’t eat sea food myself but wife and kids loved the oysters and scallops. I'd say they must be very good given the seasoned seafood lover my wife is. And Mr Hao has surpassed McDonalds and became my son's favourite eatery.
