Mariko Japan — Restaurant in Upper Harbour

Absolutely delish Japanese Restaurant. My husband and I stumbled across this hidden gem one day in search of authentic style Japanese Food and 'boy oh boy' it didnt dissapoint. Im no way a food connoisseur but Im very particular on my palette. I feel that Mariko offers some of the best and most tasty Japanese Cuisine in NZ. Not only is the food on point, but also the service. Youll always get a welcoming smile and can do attitude. The food is beautifully presented everytime. Ill be honest, its not 5* decor or smancy intimate dining, its more of a casual eatery. Its 2 mins off the highway with easy parking so its perfect for dash n and out takeaways for the whanau. Very tasty.

I ordered the Chicken Yakisoba Noodles and Karaage chicken.

Both were great and I personally found the Chicken Yakisoba Noodles to be particularly good. Exactly how you hope a noodle meal that looks like this might taste... Sometimes you order noodles like this that don't taste very good but Mariko knocks it out of the park.

My meal was also very filling. Additionally, I ordered on UberEats and my meal was still perfectly hot and fresh when it arrived.

As a final side note, they included a free little chocolate biscuit (?) thing that was also delicious.

Would absolutely order again.

Mariko Japan is hands down the best Japanese food I’ve ever tasted. Each meal is prepared with the utmost care and they incorporate a beautiful artistic flair with their presentation. The portion sizes are perfect. You definitely get your money’s worth. I’ve lived in Unsworth Heights for 20+ years and this is the best food establishment to pop-up down the road. If I leave the neighbourhood I’ll definitely make the effort to come buy from them still. 5/5 stars from me. I love to see a great small...
