Sai Rung Thai Rosedale — Restaurant in Upper Harbour

I'm glad I tried this restaurant for the first time with First Table. The restaurant is not too badly laid out and presented, the menu was comprehensive, and the service was good. However, if I had paid full price for our food I would not have been happy. We ordered chicken satay sticks, green curry, sizzling duck breast, and the hot banana coconut dessert. Green Curry was fine, nothing special but you'd enjoy it enough. A bit watery. Sizzling Roasted Duck was not up to standard. 7 pieces for $26 is a total rip off. It is one of their more expensive platters and does not deserve to be. Flavour was sub-par and breast was a little dry. I'd rather go to my local chinese restaurant and get a full half duck for that price. Banana dessert was warming and tasty. We were not happy with paying an extra $2.50 for rice. Rice is so cheap it should be complementary. At the very least one bowl should be provided per person at no cost. Overall Sai Rung Thai was an ok experience with ok food. Unhygienic practices! As I was waiting for my takeaway order, the lady was serving food to diners and taking dirty dishes away to the kitchen, not once did she wash her hands between serving, dealing with dirty dishes and ringing up orders after meals. She would only wipe her fingertips on a wet cloth on the counter from time to time. Do not recommend eating here due to unhygienic practices!

Edited: I saw the lady with my own eyes while waiting for my takeaway order, not once did she spend the time to wash her hands. It could be clearly seen through the door as she took away dishes, she was in and out within 2 seconds - this is not sufficient time to wash...

We ordered takeaway; 1 x chicken green curry 1 x crispy pork basil stir fry 2 x sago pudding.

Crispy chicken tasted like Chinese, no thai flavour. Chicken green curry was curdled and sago pudding with jack fruit, only had sweet corn with a bit of jackfruit... even tho sweet corn wasnt mentioned in the ingredients list.

Avoid this place, not authentic....and imagine if you or your child had allergies towards corn.
