Ive edited this review to include my most recent experience. My daughter ordered food for us today 30 December 2024 via Uber, normally we only order from KOI however today we decided to give POI a try based off their invitation to try their food again after my review ( below this review) submitted under the previous administration ... Today the order was the meal deal $58 and a side of chips and 2 Garlic naans Meal deal included 1 Beef Vindaloo 1 Chicken Tikka Masala 4 Papadoms 2 naans and Lamb Kebab What we received was .. 1 Chicken Vindaloo (NOT BEEF AS ORDERED) which i could not eat the chicken tasted like it was boiled. The curry on the whole was not what we know Vindaloo to be.
2 Beef Tikka Masala ( NOT CHICKEN AS ORDERED) my husband didn't think it was that great as well he could normally eat the entire serving in one sitting but alas he has thrown out the rest of the curry. Papadom tasted very chemical THE LAMB KEBAB WAS MIA ( MISSING IN ACTION) The naans were okay The chip texture was as though it was refried. Mind you POI is in close proximity to me than KOI which is sad really because I frequent Unsworth Dairy but would rather drive to Windsor park for curry.
The owner of this restaurant is arrogant and does not try to resolve mistakes on his part. A while back we ordered our meals through Uber that amounted to $140+. When it arrived we realized that it was missing some roti, we drove to the store to let them know and the owner was rude, confrontational and left his young employee to deal with us, who in turn realized the error and yet the owner still refused to believe he owed us anything. He admitted that he only gave us 5 but refused to acknowledge the extra roti that was on the order and paid for on the receipt. In these times when the community are trying to support their local restaurants it does not pay for owners to be arrogant and rude to customers, I live a minute away from Prince of India but now order from the King of India in...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Prince of India Restaurant and I cannot recommend it enough! The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with attentive and friendlystaff who made our dining experience truly delightful. And let's talk about the food! The Bunny Chow, Chicken Biryani and Momos were all standout dishes that had my taste buds dancing with joy. The Bunny Chow was rich in flavor and thestaff who make you feel right at home. But the real star of the show is the food. The Bunny Chow is an absolute must-try - hearty and flavorful, it's a delicious and satisfying meal in a bread bowl. The Chicken Biryani was fragrant and perfectly spiced, and the Momos were hot and fresh, with a delicious dipping sauce. Each dish is carefully prepared with high-quality ingredients and presented beautifully. Whether you're a regular at Indian restaurants or just looking to try something new and exciting, Prince of India is a fantastic choice. I can't wait to return and try more of their amazing offerings. Highly...
Read moreFood was splendid, especially the naan which had a perfect balance of crispy and tender. The curries were just as good, with an authentic Indian taste.
Last but not least, amazing service - the boss was supremely nice and gave us great suggestions that enhanced our overall experience. Super chill guy!
EDIT:
5 months later, I came back with high expectations, but sadly it seems like they have really deteriorated in quality. Although the curries weren't bad, they lacked the flavourfulness they had last time and were more dilute. In addition - the most tragic part of my most recent experience - their naan was doughy and nothing like the crispy, delicious naan I had tried almost half a year earlier.
Unfortunately, I think it is likely because they have changed owners; I didnt recognise the familiar face of the boss as we walked in. It is sad that the once stellar food they served has...
