Edinburgh Castle — Restaurant in Waitematā

Staff always helpful & friendly. John makes awesome hot chips which are available for purchase, as are several other meals off bar menu. Gaming room often busy having a good selection of pokie machines each linked to 3 or 4 separate jackpots in a spacious gaming room. Dart boards, a pool table & some arcade type games are also available to play. One of only two bar/gaming places (other than Sky City) open until 4:00am every night. I believe they also rent out rooms, however unsure of cost & have never viewed. As a bar it's usually relatively quiet, however they have a full selection of drinks from wine, to bottle & tap beer, cider, soft drinks & top shelf. There is a large outdoor area with seating around a courtyard & some bar tables. Location isn't the safest area of the city & so there can be some less desirable patrons, however there's usually a bouncer onsite so I've not witnessed anything too troublesome, just the odd loud intoxicated patron but things are always handled quickly & quietly before...

Another Iconic bar of the very few that are left in Auckland, This bar has been around since before the six o'clock swill of days long gone even surviving the late eighties penchant to pull all the old pubs down and build apartments at least 6 on tht very intersection and retail shops all in the name of progress its nice to see these old pubs still in operation I'm unsure when this historic pub was built but I'm qiessing probably 1880 maybe? The staff are attentive the pub has a cool covered court yard at the rear for smokers and those wishing to be outside, the POKIES room is modern and enticing with plenty of space to play, something of a rarerity nowadays in the city, I engourage anyone who is bored of the Auckland cassino to come up to the top of symonds and kyber pass rds there is the one and only pub tht is left on tht intersection where in the 70s early 80s there were as I remember 6 on tht...

We are a small bunch of local workers who frequent a different Yum Cha restaurant on a monthly basis. This time it was Edinburgh Castle as we were short on time and it is only a few minutes walk away from our offices.||||Unfortunately, they don't do Yum Cha during the week, only on Sunday. However, we could order from the Dim Sum menu and they would bring to our table. This was a great offer as the dishes we selected we all liked. They were brought out like a Yum Char so we didn't just have lots of food arrive at once.||||The Steamed BBQ pork buns are so very tasty, certainly up there with some of the best Yum Cha restaurants in Auckland.||||Price wise, it was very agreeable too - $200 for 11 of us.||||My recommendation is to do Yum Cha on a weekday, particularly Friday. ||||We'll...
