Japanese Thai Restaurant & Takeaway — Restaurant in Wellington

We visit this restaurant quite regularly mostly for the service we receive. The food us not the best Thai or Japanese food you will eat but good enough. If haf to compare the food to something it is probably comparable to what you would imagine you would receive at a foodcourt at a mall. Prices are average for what you receive.

The dishes I would recommend are: Pad Thai - a hit with even the fussiest eater Salmon Shashimi - Good portion size Toong Toong (money bags) - A appetizer which is tasty and pleases everyone

Dishes I would give a miss: Sweet and Sour Pork: Pretty much every other place is better Thai Curries: Taste is good but when ever we have ordered any there is very limited meat, decent amount of vegetables but an overwhelming amount of bamboo shoots which overpower the entire dish. Satay Chicken: As an appetizer it is just dry.

Would love to keep supporting this place as the people are lovely but with a couple of other Thai restaurants now in Porirua which do quality food and a restaurant which seems outdated with no atmosphere I really hope Japanese Thai Restaurant is able to lift their game...

First time ordering from this place. Called to make a phone order only to be yelled by the lady who answered the phone!! Poor customer service! I ordered the spring rolls (12) and the chicken and cashew nuts stir fry!! I asked if it was authentic, she replied “I don’t know” when husband brought the food back, my rice was like mashed potatoes and tasteless, the stuff r fry had no AUTHENTIC flavour, the vegetables were way over cooked and the spring rolls were put into cold oil to deep fry because the moment I buy it all the oil can oozing out with oil and the colour of them were pale white!! Absolutely love ordering from here and I know my family share in that view. The food is consistently good & the service is always warm & inviting. I have found that ever since covid and the increase in the cost of living, the standard of takeout food has dropped considerably. I understand the increase of cost but I will never understand why the standard of food has to fall. If anything it has really put me off eating out. It is becoming rare to find restaurants/ cafes that still make consistently good food! I highly recommend this restaurant! Keep up...
