Te Rauparaha Arena and Aquatic Centre — Local services in North Island

Good fun outing for both young and old. Perfect thing to do on a rainy day. Main pool is a great temperature. Main pool features a river ride, a toddler slide into the pool, water gun, balls and other flotation items scattered throughout the pool and every half an hour (I think) a siren sounds and it turns into a wave pool for a few minutes. There is also a decent hydroslide (you don't even have to pay extra) and a toddler/baby pool. For the adults there are couple of spa pools, a steam room, a sauna and a lap pool split into different lanes for different speed swimmers and also aqua jogging. The changing rooms and toilets are really clean and spacious. Also multiple family changing rooms which are great. After using all your energy at the swimming pool there is a Cafe on the way out where you can stop in and refuel before carrying on with the day. Outstanding value and amazing facilities – better than H2O Xtreme by far! Te Rauparaha Arena and Aquatic Centre is hands down one of the best aquatic centres in the Wellington region. I was seriously impressed by how clean, modern, and well-maintained everything is — from the pools and changing areas to the spacious layout and welcoming staff.

The kids loved the hydroslides and play features, and the main pool is perfect for both fun and fitness. Whether you're lane swimming, bringing the whānau for a splash, or just wanting to relax, there’s something for everyone.

Best part? It’s less than half the price of H2O Xtreme and delivers twice the experience. No overpriced entry fees or long waits — just good vibes, great water temps, and an all-round awesome time.

Disappointing trip in with van load of kids for a birthday party. I know this pool is cool. My daughter requested it specifically for her birthday party so we made the 40 minute drive down. The wave pool was operating and they were waiting and told ten mins - for 50 mins. Because of a small handful of kids they kept saying not yet wait another ten minutes - they ruined it for everyone. Seriously - kick those little bleeps out. Don’t let it ruin the gig for the 60 other kids waiting by cancelling the wave pool. Have a strategy to exit the ones doing whatever it was...
