I just had the worst experience I’ve ever had at any establishment
I ordered through the KFC app for pickup so I could quickly grab lunch during my break. When I arrived, the store was almost empty, but no one even acknowledged me. The lady behind the counter was leaning there, scrolling on her phone. After about five minutes of being ignored, she finally asked what I was waiting for. I told her I’d been there for a while and politely asked her to please put her phone away and check on my order. She said they were “preparing it” and walked off — still holding her phone.
What made it worse was that she kept walking past me multiple times afterward, still glued to her phone and completely ignoring me. It was incredibly rude and unprofessional — I’ve honestly never seen customer service that bad.
A few minutes later, another staff member came out, asked what I was waiting for (again), told me they were preparing it, and then grabbed my meal straight out of the heaters — meaning it had just been sitting there the whole time. I’d only ordered tenders and fries, so there’s absolutely no reason it should have taken that long, especially when the store was empty and there were no other orders on the screen.
When I got to my car, I noticed they’d given me mash instead of gravy. I went back inside, and once again — no staff anywhere. After waiting another five minutes, someone finally showed up and told me they had no gravy available. When I asked for a refund, the guy just walked off for another five minutes before coming back and offering me a large mash instead — which I didn’t want.
By then, my food was cold, my order was wrong, and my entire lunch break was wasted. Even another customer who came in while I was there was ignored for several minutes before anyone bothered to greet him. It honestly felt like no one in that store cared about doing their job at all.
The whole experience was beyond frustrating, and the staff’s attitude was unacceptable — especially the woman on her phone, who showed zero professionalism or respect for customers.
I hope this is seen by whoever manages the store because that team urgently needs to be retrained...
Read moreI have said it before and I will say it again. The food at all KFC outlets is pretty much the same because it is a set menu. What makes the difference is the staff! Before we go there, lets also take a quick look at promos and food presentation. Now, just putting it out there this does not reflect on the Avondale branch as a negative comment at all. It is my personal opinion on KFC overall. Talking promos, the latest being the Hot & Spicy run. This is the best thing since Zinger Burgers. The killer flavours and crunch. The tenderness of every single piece of chicken. You cannot beat it. People go mad during this promo, even the fact you are being charged an extra .30cents for each hot and spicy piece you order is overlooked. That is how popular and how good it is. So tell me. Why is the promo so short lived? Or why isn't it available all the time? Sales and the demand must set bells ringing that you are on to a winner! Plus nothing ruins a meal more than fries that are not piping hot and fresh out of the deep fryer. Don't dish out fries that have sat there and they are almost cold. Just putting it out there. Back to the staff at the Avondale Outlet. Awesome! A+ for the person taking the orders through drive-thru. Very clear, polite and informative. And the young lady handing out the orders, keep smiling that smile of yours, it really makes a difference seeing someone happy in their job. Amazing! AA+ 10/10. As always stay safe out there Peeps. Update Peeps... Not so much for this particular store but KFC in General. You are onto it now guys 👌. At least 2 stores in the Auckland areas - South and Central that have Hot and Spicy continuously on their Menus. So, let's count that as a WIN for the customer. Bon...

Freaking wasted $68 of our money, time and effort (the website is useless, keep saying there’s an error, and would only go through after 3 attempts)
Placed a delivery order through at 1:45pm, supposed to be delivered between 2:09 - 2:24pm.
Juggling with two hangry kids while we waited, I made the drive at 2:40pm to chase up the order after trying to call up their number, to no available.
Got up to the front door and it was closed, had another family trying to get through and went back to their car disappointed because they wouldn’t open up to walk in and signalled me to go through the drive-through.
Got to the window and told the lady my order number, she said she got my order right here with them; she ended up handed me somebody else’s order (which I returned back) and weren’t very apologetic through the whole process.
Wife messaged saying she got the order on her hand, so I wasted another 5 minutes driving back home - Remember, this is meant to be a delivery order and she only received it close to 3pm.
Chicken was dry and in a dark brown colour, Wicked wings were not done enough, not crispy and the inside were raw, Chips were cold, the potato gravy smelled like it came out of a lab, Popcorn chicken which was meant to be for the kids were missing.
I think I’ll stop using KFC delivery again, because it will link me back to this very KFC. And if I was to make a drive again for chicken and chips, I much opt for the K-Chicken next door.
