Mumbai Chaat - Indian Takeaway — Restaurant in Whau

Had a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE at Mumbai Chaat today, I had a day off and was out with my 4 year old daughter to grab a bite. I have been to the place a few times before and as far as I can remember one has to pay prior to being served. In the process of getting something for my daughter first and submitting my order I ended up taking a seat. We got the food and we ate. Once we finished for some reason I assumed that I had already paid and me and my daughter started to walk out. The old fellow at the counter and lady called for me and advised that I have not paid. I realised that and felt embarrassed but while walking back to the counter I already took my wallet out and took the card out to pay and made the payment immediately . I casually said “oh I thought I had paid”, it was an expression of explaining my forgetfulness. The old fellow got really angry and started speaking in an insulting and derogatory manner. He said you should check your bank account etc etc and threw a peice of paper in the adjacent bin with lot of force and anger as if he is trying to prove a point that I tried cheating them. His tone kept going up and up not ready to listen to any reason. I was already feeingg embarrassed but such things happen all the time, people forget. Insulting a customer is not a good idea. Although I gave it back to him with interest but the whole idea of getting into a fight with an elderly person spoiled my entire day, not going to that place ever again in my life. BAD BAD BAD. There needs to be a rating of 0. Because this restaurant with its horrendous and absolutely disgusting service fully deserve a zero. The father/the older man in-charge on the counter has the worst attitude and has anger management issues.

We ordered our food but later on decided to order another item. The guy wasn't manning his front counter so we told one of the staff to take down our order and they happily did so and just in time the man in-charge comes back to the counter and tell us off to not to give orders to anyone else as all order should go through him.

In one way its understandable but the way he raised his voice, almost yelling at us, tell us off in front of all the customers, suddenly all eyes in the restaurant are on us because this man is yelling at us for not giving him the order.

Later when we confront him he starts arguing with us that we have no right to tell him anything. We told him his service and attitude towards customers is not appropriate and another man had to come in-between and calm that man in-charge down because he was shaking with anger.

Worst experience ever. Advise to all - DO NOT GO THERE as i definitely will...

Extremely rude and worse customer service anyone can ask for. Have been there few times and have ignored their rude behavior but today the owner who is a bit matured guy was acting as if serving us food he was doing us a favour. All I did was went to the counter and wanted to ask how much more time they make take to bring my mum's food and they guy was serving another kiwi lady, fair enough i stood there quietly and he said just wait am serving this lady I replied it was all good no problem. So i thought i'll just go and sit down for a bit and he calls me and gives asks me with an attitude "I aksed you to wait and you just went and sat down i told you i was serving this lady" I mean i didnt complain and who the hell is he to tell me when to sit or not. Food is okay but not like one can die for it and their service is horrible worse than horrible and what more horrible is that they are serving food under expired grading.
