Daily Bread — New Lynn — Restaurant in Whau

Sorry guys i’m gonna be annoying here. I went the other day with friends and got myself an avocado toast with bacon, my friend got a build your own brekkie with bacon mushrooms and a hash brown and a ruben toastie.

let me start off with the good. the ruben toastie was yum and probably the thing i’d go back for and i had been before and the croissant is so yummy same with the danish, i haven’t tried their other breads but they seem like they’d be super nice!! staff are nice as well and the place is super cute with a nice outdoor area for summer as well as lots of parking!

however… i paid $30 for one singular piece of sourdough with some avocado piped on all pretty and 2 pieces of bacon plus 8 bucks for sour small coffee. my friend who got the byo brekkie got literally 3 button mushrooms one hashbrown and 2 bits of bacon for something around $24, the 3 sad little mushrooms were $8 alone. Look i’m a foodie i love food i love eating, i understand things have a cost but my god, $30 for a single piece of avo toast is kind of insane, I cannot express how disappointed i was with my plate and her plate and the coffees.

i get prices are rising and all that stuff, economy sucks yada yada, bro i work in a restaurant where 30 bucks gets you a damn good steak meal. a single piece of bread with avocado on top and 2 slices of bacon is crazy and 8 bucks for 3 button mushrooms????

maybe i’m not the target audience seeing as affordability is not a priority, i am a student and in my 20s so if im not the target demographic for this cafe then take my review as a grain of salt.

all in all if i were to come back here it wouldn't be for the food or the coffee, but for the croissants and maybe...

Good bakery but need to work on harder to be a café! Food was just average but service was terrible. I ordered Spanish omelet and added silverbeet extra. On the menu extra costs +2 and I was asked if I wanted it mix with omelet or on the side. I asked to put it on the side. When I was paying, I was asked the pay +6 for my extra. I asked menu said extra$2 then the staff said it is only when it is mixed with food. The staff should have told me how it works if I added extra bit to my food. That's the first unsatisfied service. And the second part is worse. Me and my partner was eating and talking. He had one big piece of meat left on his plate and his utensils was in use position on his plate. One of staff came over, without asking how is everything or if he was finished, she tried to take the plate away. We said we are still eating, then she said sorry (very casually) and left. Incredibly disappointing visit to Daily Bread New Lynn. I have never posted something like this but I bought the breakfast bun this afternoon at 2pm and cracked my tooth on a piece of black plastic that was inside the bun. When I went back to politely explain the situation and show the staff, they bluntly said it must have come from the spatula. I received a cash refund with no apology or concern whatsoever.
