Ol'Mate Avondale — Restaurant in Whau

Having been to The Hollywood for NZIFF movie, my husband and I were looking for a place for lunch and stumbled upon this food cart. The apple cake was gorgeous, and I do not like eating sweet food so this was perfect as it was sweet enough to go with my fabulous cappuccino. My husband had a toasted chicken and brie sandwich which was reasonably priced. The coffee is strong but not bitter. I would definitely return especially on a sunny day like today as there is lovely seating as well which makes dining al fresco particularly nice during winter. If you're a foodie wannabe, you'll appreciate the selection of home made cabinet food at Ol'mate. Both savoury and sweet are the bomb! I've tried the Panko Chicken toastie, the Mushroom Halloumi Melt toastie, and several of the sweet options. So yum! The food is unique (not the usual cafe/bakery flavours) Ie.
