We had the pleasure of trying a new restaurant in Granada called "Boca Baco". As this was a weekday, we had the entire restuarant to ourselves and our mesero/waiter Ervin's full attention! I asked Ervin, "What was the history of the restaurant?" I was told that 'Boca' was for 'bocadillos' or snacks and 'Baco' was for Dioniso the Greek god of wine, a pairing of food with wine. I asked him if the owners were extranjeros (foreigners) as it didn't have the feel of a Nicaraguan restaurant with soft jazz music playing in the background. I was told that the owners were indeed Nicaraguan though they had travelled extensively which showed in the ambiance of the restaurant! The menu is varied and has something for everyone. What caught my eye was the "Tabla de Charcuteria" or antipasto plate which was delicious! We also tried the "Carpaccio de Res" which too was excellent! Moving to seafood, we ordered "Mejillones al Vino" or mussels cooked in wine. Very good! Lastly was the "Boca Baco Roll' or Japanese sushi roll consisting of tempura green onion, salmon, cream cheese with a couple of tasty sauces! We ended our bocadillos lunch with a dessert called "Flan de Leche" which complimented the entire meal! Our next visit we will try the full meal plates which in reading made my mouth water!

I was very much looking forward to dinner here based in the Google and Trip Advisor reviews. I was sadly disappointed. The menu sounded so promising but other than presentation lacked on all fronts. Nice(ish) place. Sadly a good portion of the tables and chairs are cheap Rite Aid outdoor furniture. And don't scream fine dining. It was uncomfortably warm and they only had one fan which they allowed to be monopolized by one table. I ordered two appetizers...the Octopus Carpachio and the Asian Dumplings. It took over 30 minutes to get them (on what appeared to be a pretty slow night) and they were not worth the wait. While the presentation was excellent there just simply wasn't any flavor to the carpacchio. Extremely disappointed. The dumplings were fried and yet somehow mushy at the same time. They tasted like something that had been frozen and thawed multiple times. The main course was their Fillet flamed with Flor de Cana rum. While an impressive presentation and the meat perfectly cooked it wasnt pleasant at all. The meat was totally unseasoned and a low grade cut to boot. Definitely lower your expectations if you plan to give it a try

Finally had a chance to enjoy a lunch at Boca Baco (we had tried once previously but stopped by on a day they were closed). What a pleasant addition to the Granada dining scene! The restaurant has an excellent location in the center of Granada. Our server, Jacob, was tremendous. He was knowledgeable of their offerings, gave great suggestions, provided attentive and prompt service without hovering at our table. On top of all that, he spoke perfect English (lots better than our Espanol). Our group of four enjoyed a variety of beverages and food. Cold beers, Tonas and also a good selection of microbrews, margarita, and a rum/apple drink that was tasty. Three varieties of sushi, a house burger with bacon, and a buffalo chicken sandwich all were filling and delicious. Very good value for the level of service and the quality of food. We will be sure to return here now that we know just how good it is.

(Please ask the following questions before being seated here)

Do you take credit cards or just cash? Is the kitchen fully staffed? Do you think we can get served within 1 hour?

As someone who has worked in service, I would give this experience a 0 if possible - to account for everyone’s opinions on the table and how they felt after three hours of bad interaction after bad interaction.

However, bad reviews shouldn’t be taken lightly. They are a result of staff’s mistake, but shouldn't jeopardize the income and wellbeing of the rest of the service team who had nothing to do with the mess-ups.

Therefore 2 stars were given in solidarity with the overworked, underpaid staff in the kitchen and bar/servers who had to take their break together because their boss didn't organize their schedule fairly.

We spent three hours waiting for our meails, and except for the pasta with 3 small shrimp (for 8.50 USD ~ 300 cordobas), all the dishes were delicious. Thank YOU kitchen staff for saving the day.

When we were asked to pay for the bill (we spent close to 200 USD) they said no cards were accepted, only cash or bank transfer. We could see the Credit Card and Bank signs posted on the cashier area (that means they had a POS for at least two different card networks).

After spending over 200 USD you'd expect a discount or some kind of gratuity for all the inconveniences, but we didn't even bother to ask because we had a boat tour to catch and we just wanted to leave the place.

They added the voluntary tip to the bill (10% in Nicaragua) and we didn’t ask to take it away because it goes to a pool, and we hope the owner gives that to...

My group had a fabulous dinner at Boca Baco! The service was friendly and quick, our server Rosa was such a delight. Our food / wine were tasty and unique as well. We had a round of sushi and then shared a couple of fish and chicken dishes. The sushi was very yummy but not standout (caveat: we eat sushi often at home); the curry chicken was very unique (friend vs a stew!) it was good but not our favorite; the true star of the show was the Mariscada Baco! We’d HIGHLY recommend this dish. The octopus in the dish was a little too chewy but the fish and the sauce it was served in, was DIVINE. The Mediterranean Fish was a close second, it was the perfect mixture of flaky and buttery. There isn’t necessarily traditional Nicaraguan food served here but if you’re in the mood for fresh fish, this spot is a must-visit!

**Our vegetarian friend had a difficult time finding a meal (besides pasta pomodoro.) My only feedback is that they could do a better job of including vegetarian options that are as interesting and delicious as the rest of the menu

TL;DR 100% worth a visit, don’t even look at the menu, just order the Mariscada Baco! (Not great for...
