The Essence is located at Ikeja. The space is really tiny and there is nothing much going on there. The toilet is also very tiny. Not picture worthy.
Their customer service is poor. My friend was waiting for me and she was told it’s compulsory to make her order which she did. I got there and the waitress brought her food, we told her she should hold on so I can order my food so I and my friend could eat together, she said “No, it will get cold” she was trying to force my friend to start eating even when my order wasn’t ready and she wasn’t also ready to eat but had to make an order based on their rules. We insisted on them keeping it until mine was ready.
Also, I don’t know why it’s normal for the workers to stand and listen to one’s conversation instead of doing other things and not actively paying attention to customers conversation. It felt very uncomfortable.
They clean your table every minute. I understand waiting on a table but you don’t have to come take the tissues away and clean every minute. If my table is messy, I can signal for you to come.
Customer service isn’t impressive. It’s very annoying because since nothing much is going on in the place, a good customer service experience should at least make up for the lapses.
I had spaghetti and it was good however my strawberry daiquiri kept defrosting so fast. I don’t even understand.
I don’t recommend going here if you really want to have a good fine dining experience but yours might be different if...

Main 1- Hangla Rice {N,8000}
Content- Asian style rice mixed with veggies, king prawns, calamari and white cod fish garnished with herbs and plantain. This is one of their specials at Essence and one of the things I really loved about this meal is the fact that the prawns were so soft as though I was eating fish. The rice was perfectly done and well garnished.
I also loved the fact that plantain was included i this meal because who doesn’t like dodo 🤷🏻♀️ However, next time I’m having this, I’ll either request for chili or ask that the chef makes it spicier.
Main 2- Lasagna Bolognaise Al Forno {N7,000}
Content- Oven baked pasta layered bolognaise, bechamel, grana padano Parmesan and mozzarella cheese. I’ve had a craving for Lasagna for a while so I was really excited for this. While I really loved this Lasagna, the taste of the crushed tomatoes from the bolognese sauce during preparation seemed like it took over the taste and that was a no for me.
I loved the fact that the dairy in the bechamel was not too much for my “sometimes lactose intolerant” tummy so yay to that.
Do the portion sizes match the price? Well, that’s probably relative, however, I do think they were reasonable enough...
Read more"Essence by the Grid" is a charming restaurant that offers an eclectic menu with a modern twist. I recently had the pleasure of visiting and was impressed with both the ambiance and the quality of the food. The décor is elegant yet relaxed, with comfortable seating and soft lighting, making it the perfect place to unwind after a busy day.
The menu has something for everyone, but I highly recommend trying the Quesadilla chicken. The dish was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor, with tender chicken and a perfectly melted cheese blend. The peach-flavoured iced tea drink was also a standout, with a refreshing and fruity taste that complemented the meal perfectly.
The service was excellent throughout the evening, with friendly and attentive staff making me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. The pricing was reasonable, considering the high quality of the food and the inviting atmosphere. Overall, I highly recommend "Essence by the Grid" for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in a relaxed and...
