A cosy Japanese restaurant is what I’d call it. It’s an upscale restaurant but they are not keen on outfits as long as you look decent. I like the Japanese theme they have going on as well as the plants and the paintings of the Sakura blossoms on the wall. It all comes together nicely.
The first thing that got me about koi is their customer service. It is 🔥✨ From the security at the car park to the door men to the waiters and the manager. Every customer relation personel was on their best behavior.
They have restaurant and lounge type sitting areas inside and outside so you can pick a preference. The manager Kenneth made my visit very pleasant. He helped suggest drinks and meals to try, while the waiters gave a breakdown of the meals when I asked.
Koi has cooked and uncooked meal options so if you are not a raw protein lover, you’ll have to avoid some sections of the menu (Most cooked meals are on the lower portion of the menu). I’d advice that you ask so you are not expecting cooked salmon and get a raw one dipped in sauce instead.
The Yakisoba meal options come with noodles and depending on which you pick they are very generous with the protein(s) of your choice. I really enjoyed the triple yakisoba. It was swimming with chicken, beef, mushrooms and a lot of veggies. The meals also come in slightly large portions so while it’s possible for some people to finish it on the spot, it will have to be packed to go for some people.
The steamed rice with (can’t remember if it’s curry shrimp or just shrimp) the shrimp sauce is so good and flavorful; like the yakisoba it also comes in a slightly large portion and the shrimps are big.
The dumplings were also really good and well made. Not big but not tiny either works well as an appetizer. You can ask for your meal to be made spicy (but as a Yoruba girl the spicy was not spicy enough)
The bar menu is diverse with gin, wines, tequila, sake, vodka, beer, whiskey, soft drinks and their signature cocktails. Enjoyed the going bananas. It’s a sweet drink with a kick. They also make off the menu regular cocktails on request.
There’s also a part of the restaurant where you can watch your chef prepare your meal. I don’t think it applies to all meal offerings though. However, you can use it a private event as well.
The restroom was really clean, spacious and tidy, the clean wrapped hand towels on the sink caught my eyes first. So drying you hands after washing is not much of a hassle. There’s also a bin at the bottom of the sink to drop the used hand towel so very sanitary.
The restaurant I not exactly wheelchair accessible but it can work.
Overall it was an 8/10...
Read moreWe were looking for a good place to dine out on Valentine’s Day and Koi came highly recommended. First thing I noticed was that the temperature in the restaurant was super chilly, you’d expect that they’d moderate the temperature to suit the occupancy. Was there really a need to have all the ACs blasting with just four diners in the whole restaurant. Secondly, there was no “otefuki” or “oshibori” on the table and none was offered. The absence of a wet hand towel (hot or cold) in a place that prides itself as a high class Japanese restaurant was totally unacceptable. The waiter told us they ran out of them months ago. Not to worry, we decided to stay and ordered drinks and food. The cocktail - Strawberry Daiquiri, almost melted before it got to our table. Against the advice of my wife, I ordered the Wagyu steak/beef. When it came, it was cold and completely tasteless and to be honest, tasted stale. For the price and the expectations I had, this was very disappointing. The good thing about the place was the very cheerful waiter. She did her best to make us feel comfortable but for her service, I’d have scored the...

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE as well. Firstly I called to make a reservation and the person on the other side of the phone was so rude with so much nonchalance. Complained about my cocktail tasting diluted with little to no alcohol in it and nothing could be done about it. We requested to see the manager but apparently he was too busy to get involved in his/her customers.
It’s more sushi you get on the menu to main dishes. They don’t have so many options for main dishes.
It’s a NO for me honestly. And I’m still mad at the fact that I spent close to 40k and didn’t get the value of my money. I’ve been to so many other overpriced restaurants which I got the value of my money for but this is definitely not one of them.
Oh yeah, then VAT is paid separately not part of...
