I have went to this place on three or four occasions and each time I’ve went, I’ve brought people with me from the USA. I myself is new to Nigeria from The USA, and on each occasion I have been taken advantage of!! The waiters are crooks! So the incident last night was that I ordered Egg fried rice and vegetable fried rice. I also ordered a noodle dish, which each item was at least 3,500N or less. After I’ve ordered, I closed the menu and said, “that’s all for me!” And handed the waiter back the menu. The waiter then decides to “ask” whether I wanted a “sauce” that will “go” with my rice. My thoughts automatically went to my knowledge of “sauce” for when you’re eating Chinese Food in the US which is usually sweet-n-sour, teriyaki, eel sauce, etc. Now, the waiter goes on to name these sauces saying, Chicken, beef, or Prawns sauce. I informed him I don’t eat meat, so maybe a sauce that would go best with the rice. Without informing me of the cost he brought me a sauce costing 6,500N. Why would they do such a thing without clarifying or informing someone that the “sauce” would cost!!? Especially someone that don’t know what “sauce” means. Instead they use words such as “goes with” and try to convince you that you should order something else and don’t you it would cost you a certain amount of money for it!! That is the definition of a 419, Nigerian crook!! They will find ways to talk you out of your money. Whether it be online, in person, at a restaurant, in an Uber, at a church, at a store, or even in your own home!! In Nigeria, you are not safe from financial crooks anywhere you go!! This is just a WARNING for my international people wanting to visit Nigeria or sea with Nigerians in Nigerian...BE CAREFUL!! They know how to lie, cheat and trick you!! All though I could have paid for the “Prawn Sauce” the point of the matter is that it’s the PRINCIPLE!! All I know is Customer Service isn’t Customer service in Naija!!! Especially at this Restaurant. So guess what, I am NEVER GOING HERE or recommending my friends or anyone to go here!!! And oh...saw Olamide there, Olamide spend your money elsewhere, they are crooks here!!! 🙅🏿♀️ Just saying!!...
Read moreI mean, if everywhere else is closed, I guess I'd come here if I haven't been here before, but no, Prime Chinese is not a great restaurant. Google lists them under Cheap Eats, but it's average pricing for Lagos. Still thought I'd patronize it, since it's an old Lagos spot that served me well when I was younger (by being the only place open at 4am on a Friday night) and looks like it needs patronage. My server was polite and attentive and was the best thing about my meal (which isn't saying much). The hot and sour soup had enough vinegar for 5 bowls, so I sent it back. What was brought back was much better in comparison, but not great. They were out of all cold dishes, so I ordered shredded pork. Yes, those cubes of meat are supposed to be shredded pork and came on a flat plate, so tiny entrees. The steamed rice was plentiful, but this jasmine rice was cooked like low-starch-no-clumping-in-a-good-way Nigerian rice. Asked for chopsticks and THEY DON'T HAVE CHOPSTICKS. A Chinese restaurant. Overall, the food was stubbornly average. My cocktail was passable, at least. The place was practically empty, but the staff made up for low numbers with lots of noise, so forget having a quiet meal here. When my bill came, I'd been overcharged. Sent it back, but the correction needed correcting, so I did the math for them (and I showed my work, teacher!). Plus they build in an amusing 10% "service" charge. The restroom is clean (I think) but the tap water smells and the facilities are in desperate need of an update like yesterday. Right before I left, they turned on some extra loud music that belonged in a bar or club, with outdoor speakers that insisted I learn the lyrics to whatever song it was while I got into my car. So yeah, Prime...
Read moreMembers of staff were polite and courteous but I had to wait forever for my food. My starter was the crab and chicken soup. Sadly when this was served the soup had no chicken and just a few strands of crab meat. I complained to the waiter and he took the bowl of soup away and the soup never came back... that was how I didn't have any starter. For main we ordered the special fried rice and 3 different sauces... after begging and waiting forever for my food they eventually brought the rice... guess what? They brought the wrong order... I checked the rice and found out it had just beef in it... I complained again, they took it away and brought another rice which wasn't the special fried rice I ordered. At this point, I was too hungry to complain again so I just started eating the rice with one out of the 3 sauces I ordered that made it out. While we were eating the other 2 sauces eventually made it out too and I must say the food tasted really nice. The spring rolls were also really nice. When I asked the waiter about the delay in churning out food, he said they were swamped.... that was a bit shocking as I could see a few empty seats. The price of the food there...
