So I went to check out the rooms before booking a room, my options were the Empire and Westminster because they’re the only rooms that come with balconies.
First of all, the rooms are way too cramped up for that price. I believe if you’re charging me 60k ($150) upwards, there should be more space to move around.
I’m a chubby woman and the sink to toilet distance is wicked 😹. I had to pee sideways to avoid scraping my thigh against the drawer attached to the sink.
It made no sense that the Empire which costs less, has more balcony space than the Westminster. It rained during my stay and I did not appreciate the rain seeping through the roof and disrupting my experience. Both the Empire and Westminster share the balcony space so you can see whatever’s going on on the other side, causing me to notice that the rain would not have gotten in the way if I went for the Empire room instead.
I was welcomed with a tasty small chops platter which I thought was cute. I appreciated that. However, I did not enjoy my breakfast - I had a full English and it didn’t taste great. I react to raw tomatoes and specifically requested that no tomatoes be added to my meal. Alas, there were tomatoes. I ordered an additional meal, corned beef egg sauce with bread, they got my order wrong and I got corned beef and tomato sauce with two wretched slices of bread. One may get the impression that I’m upset, I’m not. Wretched is just the best word to describe all I had for breakfast. To make it worse, I was charged N5,000 for the corned beef sauce and two slices of bread. I thought that was ridiculous. I would have expected better plating, all things considered.
The parking is okay if they don’t intend on having more than 4 guests with cars at a time. I don’t think it can comfortably take more than 4/5 cars at a time.
I’m very particular about where I spend my money and the truth is, I will not be coming back here to spend my money. If someone gets me a room? Sure. I simply don’t think this establishment is worth the prices they’re calling. I would suggest you go for the least priced room to avoid a case of had-i-known, like me. And if you’d like a balcony? Go for the Empire room, the Westminster is not worth it at all.
The staff were great and always cheerful. S/o to Julie, Elizabeth and Gift.
I would have given them a 4 but that breakfast 😫
Hopefully, they don’t take the piss and delete this review. Genuinely wish I had a better experience, rooting for them and hoping they take certain things into...
Read moreI had a good time here. It’s a small boutique hotel so it looks small on the outside but it’s actually big and two buildings i think.(will explain further) First the customer service is very welcoming, right from the reception they are very nice. I stayed in the Fantasia room. Upon entry it gave me Moroccan vibes and I later found out it was a Marrakech themed room. So if you’re in a themed room, you should get the reference. I loved my room, the bed, decor. It was a bit small tho but for a night and with just two people I didn’t mind as much. It was also expensive for the size in my opinion. The standard usually goes for 75k a night but was discounted for 65k for weekends. I feel 50-55k would be more reasonable.
Leaving the room there’s like a sitting area that’s just beautiful. You can order from here or just watch sports. Also great for pictures. I recognized some spots from a recent Instagram picture on Denola Grey’s page actually, very cool.
They took us around on tour and that’s where I got the connecting buildings theory. Their bar/lounge is separate but still within the premises. Walking to that section isn’t lovely but it’s worth passing through that connection. Another very beautiful space. Great for lounging, pictures, everything. They had a cigar room as well, again upon entering I mentioned it gave me cigar room vibes and the lady confirmed that’s what it was and then I saw the pictures on the walls. They are committed to themes here and that’s pleasing to someone like me. The lounge we were told is quite popping at night time as people who aren’t guests can come there as well. I didn’t go there at night but I can see how that would happen.
Another thing to note is the security. They had keypads and codes to enter the main door and the section leading to the rooms. That’s not bad at all. If you love taking pictures, try the walk way as you enter the hotel, we took amazing shots there. Also the outside area in the lounge, another great setup.
We didn’t have any food except snail sauce and that unfortunately fell flat for me.
Overall, i would give it a 81/2 / 10. I would stay here again and go for a different themed suite. I would be eager to try the food tho. The lounge I would go during the times they said was at its...
Read moreRoom: I was extremely disappointed with the rooms. I was placed in a room where the bathroom was under repair and my tap water did not run clear. I had to use bottled water to brush my teeth. The room should have been inspected before guest arrival. I also was not able to shower in hot water. I was very disappointed with the amount of money I paid and the type of room I had and my experience. They turn the lights off in the lobby too early and it was difficult to see the steps or know if reception was open and welcoming to assist guest. The light being turned off gave off the impression that they were not available to assist anymore. Since it is a hotel the lights should be on in shared spaces for guests.
Service: The staff did not check in to ensure everything was going well during the stay, I had to keep going back to the front desk to ask for what I needed. I shared my concerns with the manager and he was receptive to my feedback.
Food: My room came with breakfast. When I entered the restaurant I was told I would need to wait 30 minutes for food. I was expecting for a buffet/ready made food so I could quickly eat and head out. The breakfast menu could be a simple buffet offered based on what the restaurant...
