Charcoal grill was borne out of a vision to deliver a unique experience to Nigeria meat lovers and trust me when I say it is because they have been operating since 2013 and still basking strong.💪🏾
A girlfriend recommended and I honestly didn’t know what to expect. So I left the office with an open mind.
The restaurant is at the rooftop of a plaza in Aminu Kano Crescent. Polite and courteous staff 💯👏🏽, Warm ambience and more.
MOCKTAIL – Coca Colada. Coconut cream, Pineapple juice, fresh milk and honey. I loved this. Totally different from what I would normally go for but I honestly had no regret because it was pleasant on my buds.🤍
MAINMEAL – Bible Mix Grill. Beef, Chicken, Sausage and gizzard with pepper sauce. As side, I had Basmati White Rice and Stew. This meal was absolutely Yummy and filling.🤩 Indeed, a place for meat lovers because it was properly marinated and grilled.🤤🥰
REVIEW – The restaurant is in a really busy commercial area and has a stiff competition as there are several restaurants within and beside the plaza. So they must be doing something really well to have maintained the clientèle they have and even attract new ones.👏🏽💯 I was given Groundnut to munch on while I waited for my meal which surprisingly did not take along time.
Beautiful Space, divided into 3 sections.
*The Coffee Lounge *The Main Dinning *Terrace You can sit anywhere you choose to depending on your mood. Very affordable rate and service.👌🏽👏🏽The present economy has nothing on them and I believe it’s one of their strategies. 💯
Fast Meal, Absolutely Friendly staff, great atmosphere, perfect music and more. Meanwhile, kudos to the uptight waiter Henry who eventually loosened up that attended to me.👏🏽😊 The restaurant is perfect for family hangout, Brunch dates, Romantic dates, breakfast, Friends hangout, Lone dates and more.🥰🤍
It’s children friendly. Covid-19 Protocols duly observed with an active censored hand sanitizer. 💯
LOCATION – 112 Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse2, Abuja.
RATING – For all the aforementioned, I would give this restaurant 8/10.
P.S – You can dine in, Takeaway and call in for delivery. Open - 8am except on Sundays by 10am. Closes - 10pm.
They have 5 types of Breakfast.
Full English Breakfast.
American Breakfast -Waffles and more.
Continental Breakfast ‐ French Toast and more.
Cinnamon French Toast.
Nigerian Bolè and Mackerel.
They all come with either Tea, Coffee, Hot chocolate and Fresh Orange Juice as complementary. I’m definitely visiting again and for Breakfast.🥰 On Wednesdays are strictly for proper Nigerian meals.🤤😍
So Darlings, I would definitely Recommend this restaurant but I’m not going to Fail to mention you should be ready to climb the stairs till you get to the Restaurant as there is no Elevator unfortunately.😥😔 Don't Forget to Follow me on Instagram @EatOutWithAlexis and also visit my Column EatOutWithAlexis on the blog Abujacityjournal.com . Read moreDesign: I love the design of both the indoors & outdoor sitting area, but I prefer the outdoors because of the beautiful leaves utilized.
Food & Drinks: This is a great place for breakfast or brunch. Most people rave about the Pancakes & Waffles. I had the waffles with scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon & I was surprisingly satisfied. My friend had the chicken burger and fries, that was good as well but the burger could have been better.
Hygiene/Cleanliness: I like that the staff made an effort to clean the tables and the surrounding areas, after each customer left. My only issue was they didn’t have on face masks, but I hope the staff have been fully vaccinated, to avoid the spread of COVID-19 disease or any other viral diseases.
Service: The service could be better, we had to wait several minutes before the waiter returned to take our orders and when we were done eating we asked them to clear the table, which should have been done earlier. It seems like this place is understaffed or the staffs need more training on communicating with customers on how best to serve them.
Family/Date Friendly: If you’d like to go here with kids, consider going earlier in the day. This is the perfect spot for chilling with friends and family for breakfast or brunch. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend for date nights, birthdays & business meetings.
Price: The pricing is somewhat affordable, hence I’ll be returning.

Read moreI’m updating this review in 2022. I’ve been to Charcoal since my previous review, and it occurred to me that there might be some updates I should let you know about.
The Charcoal Grill has really tasty dishes. Service can be slow which is very irksome but dishes sort of make up for it.
They serve a bowl of fresh popcorn while you wait. The outdoor seating area overlooks one of Abuja’s busiest streets, while the internal space has two seating areas. One I prefer to see as a breakfast room.
The Charcoal is good for families with kids too especially because of the choices of entertainment. No TV showing questionable music. With smaller kids though, space might be a challenge unless you’re seating outdoors.
I’d recommend the grilled tilapia dishes first and then the lamb dishes. Those were my faves.
The Charcoal Grill remains one of the most reliable breakfast locations in Abuja. This may be in part due to the fact that they do not seem overly interested in following trend. The outdoor seating has a calmness which overhanging live plants contribute greatly to. And their breakfast options offer good value for money too. I love their English breakfast which is always too much for me 😃
As always, the Charcoal Grill remains one of my constant recommendations for family...
