Café Opera — Restaurant in Bergen

We came in for lunch and the place was pretty packed. Because of the terrible acoustics you cannot even have a normal conversation inside so we went to sit outside. We could luckily sit dry. You have to order at the bar, but they also cannot understand because of the noise inside you so we had to go back again because the order didn't go through correctly.

The milkshakes were great, delicious thick and very chocolaty, I loved it. I had a grilled cheese which was not super. Not a lot on there and the bread was pretty dry. But the focaccia my partner had was supposedly great.

All in all, food and drinks good (at least most of it)...

We were recommended this café for dinner by an adorable Norwegian grandpa after being practically kicked out of many other places in the area when inquiring for a table for 6.

But what a pleasant surprise it was! The café staff was welcoming and the service very effective even though most tables were occupied. And most importantly, after more than a week spent in the Norwegian countryside having to settle for fries and fast food most of the time, the food at Café Opera was absolutely delicious, do try their seafood dishes and you won’t be disappointed. Moderate menu, same alternatives for years. Most important, waiters and waitresses are quite arrogant. They literally have zero interest in customer satisfaction. You may ask for simplest question regarding menu or the city. The most pleasant answer you receive will be in three words: I don't know. Also you should not have high expectations with their tea menu. All they do is to pour boiled water and provide a teabag with it.
