Bukken Vinbar — Restaurant in Oslo

I would like to take the opportunity to say that I am utterly disappointed, and I urge anyone who fancy visiting to stay away, unless you are prepared to be treated like rubbish.

My friend and I decided on a drop-in for a drink and something to eat. This being Saturday evening around 18.30.

I appreciate it being busy but we were given a table. After only three minutes we were given a bottle of water and two sets of menus. Good start we were thinking👍🏼

Then it went rapidly downhill from there. After another two minutes leafing through the menu discussing what to choose, the head waiter came over and told us that another two people just dropped in for drinks and a bite, and that the table we had been offered all of a sudden was given to them?! [the clue phrase here is "drop-in" right?]

So our drop-in resulted in us being bumped to another table in the corner, among other clients jackets, and piled up outdoor furniture. To add to the disappointment, the "table" he wanted to bump us to was behind the door to the toilet and can only be described as chairs in a waiting area for clients queuing to get to the toilet.

Needless to say we stood up and walked out. Truly disappointed by the lack of service. Before Saturday we were excited to go there for a relaxed evening.

Now? Well, we'll never set foot...

We visited Bukken Vinbar as a group of six on the day of the Oslo Marathon. With the city buzzing and bookings scarce, we could only secure an early table at 17:30 (the other option would have been much later). In the end, starting early worked perfectly—it gave us time to settle in before the evening rush.

We began with a round of shared dishes, which set a relaxed tone before moving on to our main courses. Everything was well-prepared, thoughtfully portioned, and full of flavor. Dessert ended up being the star of the show, a perfect finish to the meal.

The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, ideal for a group of friends catching up. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and even on such a busy Oslo day we never felt rushed. A couple of small details stood out—the butter with the bread was close to rancid, and the restroom door squeaked with every use—but those were minor quirks in an otherwise smooth experience.

Vakker vinbar med god service og fantastisk mat! Fikk nok den beste spare ribs jeg har fått i Oslo der og blekksprut retten var helt perfekt! Selv drikker jeg ikke nå før påske så har ikke dykket ned i vinlisten, men det jeg har sett ser veldig bra ut! Dette er et fint sted å gå med venner eller kjæresten, det er utrolig fint å kunne dele noen av rettene så man får prøvd litt mer! Mye god hermetikk, fra kaviar til brisling eller utrolig god paprika og mye flott fra kjøkkenet.
