Small (as the tour guides explain in comparison to other palaces) but interesting. In response to the review who said it’s difficult to buy a tour ticket, that is false. The website is available in English, with details on the times of the tours in English and links to purchase tour tickets at Ticketmaster Norway. This is how I was able to purchase my ticket before I even got on a plane. True, some Norwegian websites are harder to pay with non-Norwegian credit cards, but this was not one of them in my experience of booking several things for my trip. If you are curious about the palace, Norwegian royalty, etc, then I recommend the tour. No photos are allowed and you must store your things in the provided lockers. I found all the staff and security to be friendly and helpful. Tip: if you purchase your ticket ahead of time (digital or print it) then you do not need to stand in line. Just be there at least 5 minutes before your tour so that you are there when the staff announces the tour time may come up if you have a ticket. The line you see is to purchase a ticket and it’s...

Nice localization and easy access on the top of a small elevation at the end of Karl Johan street (main shopping street of Oslo). Gives access to the castle, view of the guards, a big statue, the castle park and nice view of parts of the city.

Not very impressive castle, and the guards (apart from identical uniforms) looks like just a collection of random youth. Different hights, sexes, some looks a little overweights, some quite unintersted in their duty and in general not what one would expect a place like this. They are not even able to march in line and in the same "pulse".

But its nice and spacy there, free and open for the public, and a nice spot for some relaxing and meditative minutes. Just bring Your own...

Such a beautiful place. The Royal palace’s area are open for free (if you want to go inside the palace then you have to buy tickets) for everyone. That’s amazing. You can walk and take pictures here. You can sit and enjoy the beauty of it. Also you can watch over the guards who protect the palace. And it’s not like very fancy place, but it’s quite simple for palace, but it has own greatness in simplicity. For buying tickets you can go to their website, or you can buy it at 7-Eleven, Narvesen.
