Cafékontoret was my go-to place for the ten years I lived in "gamlebyen" ('ye old town). They've managed to balance the atmosphere between the area's traditional working class background and a place you can take your family for dinner. Gamlebyen is under renewal, while at the same time being somewhat under the shadow of the newer flashier areas being developed along the waterfront.
