Oslo Central Station — Local services in Oslo

Really inadequate team in customer service. Total lack of correct communication between the different channels, lack of customers and visitors care. Very disappointing experience.

Bought a ticket for a night journey (Nov. 2022). A train delay was communicated at the departure time (40 minutes delay for cleaning - which could have been communicated earlier on the platform screen).

When I asked for a refund (so to buy a new ticket for the day after while available for half the price) and for other general info, two people from rail service were almost annoyed and other two just ignored me, pretendeding they couldn't hear me asking “excuse me sir” (in the night you can imagine how many voices were around the station except mine).

The only polite guy that replied to me said that refunds are possible on the same day of the purchase but before midnight (unfortunately at 8pm the office that performs this service shuts down). Alternatively, you go come back the day after explaining the situation to get help. Came the day after. At the ticket office they didn’t do anything at all except for giving me the link to the website of the rail service (service that wanted to be called before the 11pm of the previous day - no one told me absolutely anything about that!). I never got refunded for my £90 nor emailed back. While on panic and stuck with luggages at the ticket office, I didn’t receive any help or support for the lack of service. Oslo S is Norway's busiest railway station, with connections to local and regional trains in Norway, to Sweden and further into Europe. Tickets available from the Entur machines and from the ticket office open during the daytime. Opening hours of the station is Monday–Sunday 03.45 am–01.30 am. Luggage storage facilities are available here during opening hours (50–80 NOK per day). Other services include elevators, restrooms (fee) and ATM / currency exchange. The station is located at Jernbanetorget, Norway's biggest public transportation hub, which also consists of Jernbanetorget metro station, Oslo Bus Terminal and local bus and tram stops outside. Some of the city's biggest hotels and shopping centres are also located here. Oslo S also has newsagents, cafés, restaurants and a supermarket open almost 24 hours a day. I am very impressed with Oslo Central Station. This is very clean and efficient place plus staff is very helpful indeed. Since Norway is very expensive, therefore, if you are travelling to/from the Airport, then if possible take the local train for city , not the Flytoget express... and you will save equivalent...

Very good experience with the luggage storage service. We arrived at Oslo midday while our train to Bergen is at night. We had more than half a day to spend in Oslo so we’d like to store our luggage somewhere safe. The locker at the train station was perfect as we didn’t have to drag the luggage here and there. We rented the largest locker as we had quite a few things to store. It was NOK299 (c. 20£) for 24 hours. Very good value in my opinion. They give you a receipt but I would recommend you take a photo of it in case losing the code to reopen the locker. there are sample lockers at the entrance of the locker room (just look backwards!) so you can test with size works for your luggage. We found it on our way out which I find it not friendly. You would want to remind people of that samples on their way in and make it as obvious...
