Lovely little restaurant . Was very excited to have my birthday dinner here. I had the meat menu, my friend had the fish menu. My meat menu was ok. The only stand out was the foie gras with quail. I would of preferred a whole platter of the delectable delicious skewers. Beet salad lack luster and flavor. Smoked reindeer dry and no flavor but artichoke cream was tasty. The reindeer entree i wanted rare, server said it was served medium rare, i hesitated and said ok. Chefs recommendation. The reindeer felt like it had been cooked days before, not juicy, not tender and mealy! I had to pour a few tablespoons of olive oil that was on the table just to give it moisture. NOT ACCEPTABLE !! The fish menu dinner was ok said my guest except the barley risotto was too heavy to go with the cod. Cod was overcooked as well. My guest and i both agreed the dinner & food was not memorable. It was crazy noisy with a few big parties people basically laughing and screaming SO LOUD! Not enjoyable. The service was excellent. The desserts were a plate of little bites. The ice cream was supposed to be white chocolate did not taste like that at all, really the only good tiny bite was the brownie. The little apple crisp thing was gross, i spit it out. Overall Restaurant is cute but not enjoyable with 2 drunken parties that were exceptionally LOUD. Food was pretty bland, dry and portions very tiny. Honestly loved the foie gras and if i could just order a platter of that, i would come back. The overall birthday dinner was a sad...

I have to say, it was a great experience with great food and services, will definitely come again if ever visit Oslo. You do not want to miss this place if you want some Norwegian cuisine.

-Environment & Location Nice place, cosy and clean, not many tables available, make reservation before you go. Not too far from city centre, tram station is nearby.

-Food & Drink Provides both meat and fish menu, you can choose your type of meat for the meat menu main course, but not for the fish menu. The combination was just great, you can taste every flavour listed on the menu. Love the small club sandwich with quail great and foie gras, surprisingly delicious. Wine pairing was great with the food, excellent selection. The dessert was slightly below standard, maybe can have better choices.

-Service Great service, as the place is small, the waitress was able to take care of all the tables. She even top up my wine after she seen my glass was empty before I finishing the appetiser.

-Price The price is comparable with many local fine dining restaurants, so I assume the...

This is a very nice restaurant. Food is delicious, the wine is excellent and the staff has a relaxed attitude but still highly professional. The dining room is small, warm and very cozy to sit in, with comfortable chairs and sofas. I love this place and would gladly come here frequently.

But why not 5 stars? This is an expensive restaurant, and that is fine, but the dishes are so small that you really have to eat a full 3 course meal (at least) to feel full. And even then, there is still room for a slice or a snack on the way home.

I live across the street and would love to just pop in at hos Thea for a good meal and a glass of wine (not cheap but very much worth it) instead of cooking at home, but that is not possible - I will be hungry by the time I cross the street heading home.

This is a restaurant for celebrations and not for the local clientele looking for very good food. Which is sad, a combination should...

I came here on a Friday night for dinner in late June with my husband for the first night of our trip to Scandinavia from New York. We were recommended this restaurant by the concierge at our hotel, Christiania Teater. We made a reservation online/through email about three weeks prior. Dinner at this restaurant was honestly an exceptional experience. We both did the fish tasting menu. I had the wine pairing. The food and wines were delicious. The restaurant is adorable, intimate (but not crowded), and not at all touristy. Our server was lovely, attentive, and knowledgeable. The owner of the restaurant came around the various tables to make sure every one enjoyed their food and experience. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. If and when I am in Oslo again, I will definitely look forward to dining here again.

Pleasant but not extraordinary... The very high expectations we had about Hos Thea weren’t exactly met 😶 The chef’s menu had 3 starters which were tasty but not really special; the cheese plate introducing Norwegian cheese was informative but way tooo small; the 3 deserts presented were unrelated to each other and standard (We would have rather had 1 desert, special to the restaurant). The highlight was our selected main course, red deer; it was delicious with the blueberry sauce. Overall: Everything in the menu was tasty, the staff was friendly and all the dishes came on time. However, the creativity and the taste did not match the price tag.
