The Queen Sonja Art Stable in Oslo is a fascinating blend of history, art, and royal heritage, offering a unique cultural experience within the grand setting of a former royal stable. Originally built in the 19th century to house the royal horses, this elegant building has been beautifully repurposed into a museum, showcasing a rich collection of art, photography, and video exhibits that celebrate both contemporary creativity and Norway’s royal traditions. The transformation of the stable into a museum is nothing short of impressive. The architecture retains its historic charm, with the original stone walls and vaulted ceilings providing a majestic backdrop for the exhibits. The preservation of these architectural details adds a layer of depth to the experience, reminding visitors of the building’s storied past while they explore the modern art on display. Inside, the museum offers a thoughtfully curated selection of artworks, focusing on photography and video pieces that resonate with Queen Sonja’s own passion for the arts. The exhibitions are diverse and engaging, featuring works by both Norwegian and international artists, often with a focus on nature, culture, and the human experience. The museum’s dedication to showcasing contemporary art in a historic context creates a compelling dialogue between the past and present. One of the highlights of The Queen Sonja Art Stable is its collection of photographs and videos, which are presented in a way that is both visually striking and emotionally evocative. These exhibits often include personal and candid moments from the lives of the royal family, offering a rare glimpse into their world. The combination of art and history makes the museum particularly appealing to those interested in both royal heritage and modern artistic expressions.

Cool place to see exhibitions that changes over time. This use to be the Royal horse stables. You can still see the names of the horses on the walls by each stable. I came looking for royal wardrobe and crowns but that exhibition was from months ago. Currently on display is ceramic arts.It was still worth visiting.

Beatiful art galleri based in the western corner of the National castles garden. It's a old stable that is used for displaying a variation of the queens art collection and some importent national artists. You can check what exhibisions they have at there web Page.
