Proud Mary is located just across from Karl Johan Hotel, near the Parliament building, making it an easy and convenient stop for lunch during a day of sightseeing. The restaurant has a relaxed pub-meets-brasserie atmosphere that feels lively without being chaotic. We grabbed a table for lunch and found it to be a nice spot to recharge before diving back into the city.
The menu had a solid mix of comfort food and pub classics, and everything we ordered came out quickly and well prepared. The portions were generous without being over the top, and the flavors were satisfying â the kind of food that hits the spot after a morning of walking around Osloâs historic core. Service was friendly and efficient, which made the whole experience feel seamless.
The location is really what makes Proud Mary shine. Sitting outside, youâre right in the middle of the action, with views of Parliament and the steady rhythm of Karl Johans Gate just beyond. Itâs a great option if you want something casual but dependable, and the proximity to the hotel makes it especially convenient for travelers. Overall, a solid lunch spot that delivers exactly what you need in the middle...
Read moreWe chose this place while we were in Oslo because it was close to our hotel and had live music â but it turned out to be something completely different from what we expected, in the best way possible. It was amazing.
It gets very crowded on weekends, and ordering can be a bit tricky, but the bartenders are super patient and attentive. They prepare your drinks carefully and are happy to answer any questions you might have.
The live music here is on a whole different level â a must-experience if youâre in Oslo. Honestly, it ended up being one of the best memories from our trip to Norway.
As we were leaving, we saw a long line of people waiting to get in â at least two of them were happy we left because they got our spot! Thatâs when we realized how lucky we were to get in with no...
Read moreThe venue was fantastic in term of music and front bar staff. However, abysmally low rating because they're system stopped accepting foreign credit cards so it was impossible to pay via credit card for anything - okay fair enough, shit happens, I can roll with that - but then as I was on my own, I left half a glass of wine on my table to hang on to the table in a very busy bar while I must go to the bar to order my next drink (no table service, fair enough), and the staff took my drink. When I mentioned this to the bar, she shrugged and said... nothing I can do about it. If youre traveling alone from overseas, don't come here. The live music is truly fantastic but you won't be able to use your credit card to buy drinks and half of the 15 USD wine will be taken without as much...
