Last week, my son and I went to Olivia's restaurant for dinner. We didn't reserve a table in advance. The lady who accepted the guests at the door of the restaurant told us that if we want to eat outside, we have to wait for about an hour for a table to become empty. But if we want, there is a place to eat inside and we decided to eat inside the restaurant. Another lady who was there took two menus and moved ahead of us to lead us to the table. She chose a very small two-seater table for us that was attached to a larger table that had guests. Then, very impatiently, threw the menus on the small table and said that we can only give you this table and without waiting for our answer, she left there very quickly and rudely. This lady's behavior was very offensive to me and my son. I think it was very unprofessional. In my opinion, a person who works in a restaurant is obliged to have a customer-oriented approach and deal with the customer in such a way that the customer feels welcome there. For us, this behavior was so rude and unacceptable that despite being hungry, we decided not to eat there and left the restaurant. Any restaurant, even if it prepares the tastiest and best food, has no value until it can treat its guests with respect...
Read moreThe food was decent, however, the service was horrible and made the whole experience awful. We waited at the front for around 10 mins because there was no one in the front to seat us. Once we got seated, the waiter came up to us and didn’t say a word to us - they just stared at us to order. After ordering food and being seated for over 10 minutes, we noticed that two other tables that came after us were given water, utensils, and plates by the waiter. We didn’t get any of those and we ended up having to ask for water to be given to us. The food overall was alright but the service just made everything distasteful. Typically I’m hesitant to write negative reviews but we were really disappointed by the service because there were so many good reviews about this spot.
We wanted to give Olivia another try in Bergen so we went again but like the first time, we stood at the front waiting over 10 minutes again while waiters and bartenders constantly made eye contact with us without acknowledging us. We ended up leaving and not dining with Olivia again.
Edit: The restaurant responded to the review to contact a email and we reached out but no one...
Read more2s across the board. We ordered a mocktail, foccacia for antipasti, and carbonara and pizza diavola primi piatti. The mocktail was a special moscow mule with blueberries. It was incredibly sour, probably overdid the lime. The focaccia antipasti did not taste fresh, though the sauces (pesto rosso and garlic butter) were very good. Carbonara did not taste like egg, it barely had any flavor, quite bland. The servers got the order wrong and delivered a pizza nduja instead of diavola, and when the carbonara arrived we had to wait and ask for utensils. We also had to ask for napkins. The pizza diavola had a bland crust and the diavola was oddly tasteless.
The place is decorated very nicely, we sat next to a wall that had a live fire feature built in. Unfortunately, it made my left side uncomfortably warm. The restaurant was noisy, but that's not something you can really control. Overall it's not worth going, unless you get lucky with better food and service...
