A group of friends and I visited here after reading about their great reviews as we wanted to try some traditional Norwegian food while on holiday! It is a really great vintage restaurant in Oslo serving traditional, homestyle Norwegian cuisine. There is a very local feel to the place and the style and decor of the place is as original as the day they opened! The staff are friendly, they spoke good English and they were helpful with recommending what to order off of the menu! I got the Taste of Norway as did a few others in our group and one member got the roasted bacon. The Taste of Norway is accompanied by sauerkraut, boiled potatoes, mashed peas, brown sauce and lingonberry jam! All the food was delicious and I would recommend the roasted bacon dish over the Taste of Norway! However, the portions were perfect and I decided to treat myself and got the warm apple pie with ice cream for dessert! I highly recommend it. If you are ever in Oslo, I would definitely recommend checking this place out!
Fun fact that I learned about this restaurant is that both Norwegian writers Jo Nesbø and Bjørg Vik have set a number of scenes from their books at this location. The restaurant is Jo Nesbø’s famous Harry Hole’s...

staff: (in the afternoon and just now) i'm not sure whether they are norwegian or not (relevance: norwegian cook or not?), because of their subtlely less fluency in the english language compared to what i heard the last couple of days. i wanted to taste a norwegian dish, the waitress pointed them all out on the menu and told me there was other stuff not on the menu.
speed: excellent. although it is not busy at all
food: reindeer patty, cabbage, mashed peas with gravy and some berry sauce. it tasted very good. it is not haute cuisine, but 'normal food', you'd eat at home.
i would definitely eat there more often, except i'm leaving oslo tomorrow. so 10/10 would eat...
Read moreThis was just a wow experience. It is a very authentic local Norwegian restaurant where I had one of the best burgers ever! The place looks very vintage and it’s packed with local people that probably dined there since they were kids, since the restaurant has been opened a long long time ago. It’s amazing that they kept it like this to continue the tradition. They don’t have English menus, but the host speaks very good English and it’s anyways quite easy to google translate the menu. However, you will have to actually enjoy the food without distractions, since they don’t have wifi. We had soup and burger. The burger was somehow I think grilled and fried, but it was just wow! One of the best I ever had! The meat is also wow in Scandinavia, so maybe that’s also one of the reasons for the taste. If you’re in the are you need...
