Extremely Disappointing – Definitely Not Worth the Trip!

I visited this place based on all the glowing reviews, and honestly, I left completely disappointed. It’s not centrally located, so getting there takes effort — and for what? It simply doesn’t live up to the hype.

Right from the start, the service was poor. The person behind the counter was cold and unhelpful, barely acknowledging me and just pointing to a sign with four options when I asked a basic question. no engagement, no effort.

The place itself was dirty and felt completely neglected. It lacked any atmosphere or sense of pride — just a worn-down space that didn’t feel inviting at all.

Now let’s talk about the food — which should be the highlight — but it was by far the biggest disappointment. The potato flatbread was absolutely flavorless. Honestly, it felt more like a sad tortilla than anything worth mentioning. And the hot dog? There was absolutely nothing special about it. Nothing. I’d even say it wasn’t tasty at all — just bland, very boring, and instantly forgettable.

Even the local Coca-Cola (Toyen), which some reviews oddly recommend, tasted off — which made the entire experience feel surreal.

I genuinely don’t understand how this place became so “famous” or highly rated. I’ve tried coming up with theories — maybe it used to be good, or maybe local taste preferences are just very different — but from my perspective, it makes no sense. It honestly feels like a tourist trap.

You’d get a much better meal from any random food stall in Oslo — or even better, from the Mathallen food hall. Don’t waste your time or...

Saw a video of this place being one of the last hotdog stands in Oslo. Also heard their hot dogs are delicious. I went to the place and it felt much smaller than the photos show, I almost missed it. But we got to the place, the owner wasn't there but another employee, he was super chill and talked to us for a bit. We asked what the most popular hot dog was and we got the Spicy Rabbagast (single hot dog, bread and lompe, jalapeno salad, crispy fried onions, ketchup and mustard) and the Oslopolsa (single hot dog, sausage bread and lompe, pickled red onion, potato salad, ketchup and mustard). The Spicy Rabbagast was my favorite and I see why people order this one. Hope this place lasts for...

Serving affordable Hot Dogs since 1979 Syverkiosken is a culinary landmark in Oslo, the Sausages boiled in a rich Stock offered on Potato Flatbread with a variety of condiments displayed in Norwegian.

Located near Alexander Kiellands Plass beside a mural, usually unmistakable thanks to the line, guests request Dog on Lompe that are quickly prepared featuring plenty of snap atop Lompe that is soft and warm.

The last of its kind, a family recipe passed down with time, sauteed Onions are suggested as the most favored topping per owner Erlend Dahlbo though the “special” includes Potato Salad with Mushrooms while fans of heat may prefer...

For snack/dinner, I decided to visit a pølse stand called Syverkiosken to try out sausage served with lompe (a flatbread rather similar looking to tortillas but made from potato). Place is a bit further out of city center so bear that in mind if you’re in a rush or rely on public transport. I wasn’t sure what to get so just asked the owner to serve me the most classic version. The fried onion was a nice touch alongside your classic ketchup and mustard topping. Pretty affordable (34DKK) by Norway standard for sure but not the most comfortable seating area (outdoor and not the cleanest), more so a street style kind of food.
