This used to be my favourite place in town to eat which is why the disappointment is bigger. I have only had the buffet though, and nothing else on their menu. For the price you pay, the quality of the food is not worth it anymore. The rice is soggy and the pieces fall apart before you reach your mouth. In general, the allover presentation of the food has gotten pretty bad. Some of the pieces aren't parted properly, the size of the pieces vary too much (some are super thick whilst others are paper thin), the size of the vegetables and fish vary way too much, and almost everything is drowned in chili mayo or some other sauce (and then I mean drowned). There is absolutely no consistency in their food, except for the fact that almost every piece tastes the same.
Until now, it's been mostly the presentation that's gotten worse and worse. During my last visit the food was just really bad. The salmon tasted terrible and had a really gross texture. It was slightly slimy as well, which is a sign of salmon on it's way to go bad, and it dissolved in your mouth (not in the good way). The fried chicken tasted nothing at all and the spring rolls were not even finished when they were served. I suspect they've started to buy cheaper raw materials or/and hold on to them too long. The quality of their food has dropped considerably, which is such a shame considering how good it used to be.
Due to the fact that the food is made on demand you also expect there to be a little waiting, but we waited about 20 minutes to get the pre-dishes (fried food), and then maybe 20 minutes after we finished that we got our first pieces of sushi even though it was all ordered at the same time. So it approximately 40 minutes to get any of the sushi. We did not have time to finish due to them closing, which would not have been as issue if the waiting wasn't 60% of our time there.
The quality of this place has dropped so much I don't think I will be going back again. Right now, Sabrura is more worth the money even if the sushi they serve is pretty bad as well. You will save some money and you do not have to spend most of your time waiting for your food.
If you still considering going here, do not order the buffet if you are more than 2 people. We payed 1500 NOK for 6 people, and we did not eat close to that much food, and neither will you. Buy some of the combo pieces each and split it between you. Way cheaper and maybe the quality of the menu items are better.
I'd like to point out that the server we had was really nice and pleasant though! And the crispy temari balls are...
Read moreNot longer a good restaurant I first came to this restaurant in 2017. I came here very often after that and have personally seen how the quality of the food and service have decreased over time.
The price was around 240 for buffet and is now 255. I understand that prices go up over time, but the quality and service should at least remain the same or be better, but the opposite has happened.
How the food is presented and served 2.1 Sashimi: Order as much as you want. Very thick slices around 0,5cm, but now you can only order 10slices per person. I can accept the rule for 10slices per person because of the profits, but in my last visit I ordered sashimi and the slices was really thin and short. This used to be my favorite but this made so disappointed 2.2 Amount of rice in the maki: the balance between the quantity of rice and salmon used to be more salmon than rice, but now its almost only rice.. I used to feel I came here to eat sushi but now I feel like Iâm only eating rice. 2.3 sodium glutamate can be seen all over the outside of the chicken wings. And does not look very delicate at all. A professional chef would not do this.
The service. 3.1 I can understand that I cannot expect to get a table without a reservations now that the restaurant have become more popular, but I was always received by a smiling, friendly and polite waitress. Recently when I walk into the restaurant without a reservation I got a table but the waitress told me I can only sit until 18:30 and I accepted that, but they waitress behavior was full of anger, emotions, unpolite and unfriendly. She behaved like that for the hole visit. In addition my friend tried a bite of our buffet plate when he had ordered a single menu, she came to us with food and saidâŠ
âYou canât eat the food from the buffet, if you donât pay for it. it is not allowedâ.
I understand this but the way she behaved was really rude and unpolite. It could have been solved in a much better and more service friendly way. Maybe she had a bad day, but if not she should not work in the service industry.
I have heard so much talk from different people that the quality of this place has decreased so much, but after today I could really see and understand what they have been talking about. Itâs really sad. Would not recommend this place anymore. I hope that the restaurant will improve and become good again, but if not: time to end it.
PS. You can see the before and...
Read moreBuffet thatâs not a buffet. You need to order from a list and they charge you extra in case you donât finish all pieces.
In reply to your answer 7th December: Amazing how many assumptions you make from my short review. I run a company where customer satisfaction is of utmost importance, and we respond to each complaint with respect and the intention to improve. Never condescending the customer.
A buffet means that you can serve yourself from food you can see. Convenient compared to a list with only short descriptions, especially when bringing children. Also, on your list, for most dishes you select how many pieces you want x1, but for maki this is x4 for each. We didnât notice this and got too many pieces for the two of us eating, although we tried to show restraint when ordering the first time. Only a few pieces were left. Itâs not about the cost, itâs about the way it is presented when so little is left over.
I have eaten sushi at most restaurants in Trondheim, as well as on numerous trips to Asia. I find that the other restaurants in Trondheim serve well prepared and fresh sushi, while taking necessary precautions to avoid contamination risk. I am surprised that you disregard the other restaurants in Trondheim in the way they serve their food.
Sustainability is of great importance to us, bot private and professionally, and I donât appreciate the way you...
