Far below expectations. English Tea House at Islamabad has been a disappointment this morning at breakfast. Father’s Day cake 🎂 was good looking and a pleasure to devour. Turkey bacon omelet wasn't adequately cooked. Desi omelet platter was palatable. Fish 🐟 and chips 🍟 were excellent. French toasts weren't exciting. Waffles 🧇 were just alright. Lassi sweet wasn't at optimal level of taste. Mint margarita 🍹wasn't a delight. Pasta didn't tingle the taste buds. Service was neither prompt nor courteous. It was an indoor dinning. We were not guided to the table but upon our standing beside it, we were told to be seated. Only upon our pointing out, was the dirty table then cleaned. What bothered us most was a number of house flies around our area. These flies kept on hovering around us and over our food throughout our dinning. It was a very displeasing or rather nasty experience. The irony of this scenario is that we requested at least five personnel of the establishment at different times of our ordeal to either bring an electronic insects killing racket or an aerosol spray to put an end to our misery but all in vain, it fell on deaf ears. In the end, when we had paid the bill and were checking out, we once again inquired as to why had they not paid any heed to our repeated requests. The answer we got was that they can't help us in this regard and that house flies are everywhere so just accept them. Please be aware that that all we did was to request the people at the helm of affairs in soft, low and humble tone to let us have a peaceful meal away from flies. It is suggested that Air Cutters be installed at all entrances and proper measures be taken to safeguard the health of your clientele. We hope you have adequate measures implemented at your Kitchen to maintain hygienic requirements for good health of the community at par with Local Food...
Read moreI called ahead for a table for two because the place is usually packed, there can be a wait time sometimes and they do have a good waiting lounge.
Seats are good, environment is good, everyone is available for service they just don't have a very happy face on them or an "always looking out for you" kind of vibe, but they do respond to calls and serve you well. We ordered a "pakistani platter 1700 and two cups of tea with 400 per cup (inclusive tax)". The platter has two prathas cut in quarters, an omelette and 3 portions of gravy; alu bhaji, chanay, qeema along with achar and dahi which is more than enough for two persons. If you are particularly hungry you may want to order an extra pratha but gravy has you covered for even 3 persons easily. We were greeted by a complimentary croissant, butter and jam, enough to stir the appetite. And the taste of everything was awesome. Prathas were very soft and light and oil was well dried out. And tea was also good enough. Another thing is that I forgot my wallet home, I told the manager before entering on call and the manager was very accommodating that he went out of his way to get me an account number to transfer the money. Which I liked because they could easily say no and still be right, people were waiting in line...
