UPDATE: I recently revisited Mahalo after a previous experience and I'm pleased to say that it was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the staff warmly greeted my party and promptly seated us in the delightful garden area. The service throughout the morning was impeccable, and the food exceeded all expectations with its incredible flavors. Not only did Mahalo restore my faith, but it left my friends and me raving about the outstanding food, attentive service, and inviting atmosphere. I am genuinely grateful to Mahalo for their sincere apologies, generous gesture, and for genuinely caring about their patrons. I eagerly look forward to returning to Mahalo in the near future.

OLD review: I have been a long-time patron of this local restaurant and have always had a great experience, particularly during their delightful Sunday brunch. The ambiance of the garden spot is simply lovely, and the service has always been top-notch. However, during my recent visit with a group of five, we all seemed to agree that the food fell a bit short. It lacked the usual vibrant flavors and could have benefited from a touch of salt. It was disappointing, especially since I have always enjoyed their delectable vegan breakfast options in the past. Nevertheless, I remain hopeful that this was just an off day for them and that they will soon recover their usual...

Mahalo was recommended by a friendly waitress at another restaurant when I asked for a good breakfast spot—and I’m glad I followed her advice. Just a short, pleasant walk the morning after, I arrived at this charming corner café tucked into the edge of Casco Viejo.

The place has a laid-back, tropical vibe with a welcoming outdoor garden area, which I regret not choosing. Instead, I sat at the bar, which was comfortable but lacked the airy, relaxed ambiance the garden offered. If I return, that’s where I’m heading.

I ordered the eggs Benedict with a side salad and a cappuccino. While nothing about the dish was over-the-top or reinvented, it was exactly what you’d hope for in a casual breakfast—well-prepared, nicely presented, and made with quality ingredients. The cappuccino was smooth and satisfying.

What really stood out to me was the value for money. In a neighborhood where prices can quickly climb , Mahalo offers a reliable option for a good meal at a fair price.

If you’re visiting and want a no-fuss, high-quality breakfast or brunch—especially something that feels “safe” but still satisfying—this is a great spot to try. And perhaps it’s just me, but the staff all seemed to be unusually good-looking, adding a little extra brightness to the already pleasant atmosphere.

A solid, feel-good stop in Casco - remember, to ask for a...

Ate here for breakfast/brunch on 3 of the 4 days I spent in Casco Viejo in February. Such a pretty little restaurant, located on the first floor of Las Clementinas Boutique Hotel, with a range of original, fresh, beautifully presented and fairly priced dishes. My favorites were the power bowl and the vegan waffle florentine. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor (i.e., the garden!) seating options, a delicious/vegan and vegetarian friendly menu, lovely decor and a really relaxing/laid back atmosphere. It seems to be a favorite among both locals and tourists alike. Refreshingly, the servers are all very friendly and helpful, but never overbearing. Not to mention, one of the chefs (Carlos Lucas) was a contestant on Top Chef Panama! My only regret is not having dinner there--coming back to our apartment at the end of the day it was often full and lively, so I definitely think we missed out! The owners also have another really cute location, called the Mahalo Panama Snack Shack, not too far away--it has a variety of healthy options (salads, bowls, toasts, pokes, sandwiches/wraps) and delicious fresh juices. Both are definitely worth a visit while...

We have heard great things about this place for brunch, but we wanted to try it for dinner. We sat in the back garden, which was beautiful, with cabdles, twinkle lights, and beautiful trees. Servers were great and quick to help us but were very straight to the point and offered nothing more than what we wanted. So this was our nice dinner of the week, and we ordered the seared tuna, fish burger, and sautéd veggies. Unfortunately, to say that the side of sautéd veggies was by far the best thing we ordered. The beer battered fish burger was quite good but pretty small for how much it was, and the sweet potato fries were baked to perfection. Our nicest dish the seared tuna was very disappointing. It had no flavor. The dipping sauce that came with it tasted like a watered-down honey and did not pair with the fish at all. We were eating each bite of tuna with the sautéd veggies. Left the restraunt not full after 3 dishes, and I'm sad that the tuna dish was underwhelming. If we were to come back, it would be for the brunch, but everything on the menu is very overpriced. At least it comes out looking very fancy and proper.
