5inco Cocina Urbana — Restaurant in San Francisco

5inco had a few star dishes and a few that were just okay.

The stars: The amarillo ceviche was excellent. The fish was super fresh and it had a lot of great, tangy flavors. The chicharron enroscado was also well prepared. The meat was high quality and it was very juicy; portion size was also large. The hongos y hummus was also delicious. The dish had a lot of flavors that complemented the hummus - cashew cream and aguacate puree and mushrooms cooked in garlic - and it came with a wonderfully soft and chewy pita bread.

The plates that were just okay: The empanaditas argentinas had a tasty meat filling, but I thought the dough of the empanadita should have been more flaky and less "doughy". The papas fritas trufadas had a nice truffle flavor but were a...

Id already been here with some friends and had a great time with some really good food and awesome drinks (tried a few of them I remember).

So, I decided to come back with a friend and the food was on point, just as I remembered, consistency is there. The Pork Bao Buns just as good and the tacos + dumplings were also yummy. From what I've noticed their dishes always have a great combination of flavors.

Now, why 4 stars? Service. It just wasn't up to par, mainly because we were left without water refill for wayyyy too long. Staff (2 waiters + bartender) were just not looking at the tables, one was on his cell phone, the bartender making drinks I think or organizing his bar before closing and the other one was actually busy and did look our way after cleaning up...

They make you feel welcome, from the minute you walk through the door! Our waiter took care of all of our needs. Our drinks were top notch and delicious! Our water glasses never were empty! Now for the good part! The food was absolutely delicious! I had the boneless leg of lamb, cradled on top of creamy mashed potatoes, and all covered in a savory gravy! I’m totally full now and my mouth is still watering, just thinking about it! My wife had Osso Bucco Ravioli! My wife let me try it and the smoky goodness of the tender meet, surrounded by the delicate pasta, made you want more, after each delectable bite!
