I made a reservation at Segundo Muelle because 1. We love Peruvian food and 2. The interwebs had nothing but good things to say about it.
Honestly, it was probably the most "meh" meal that we had in Panama City. The Ceviche a los tres ajíes was quite good and honestly the highlight of the meal. The Tuna Tartare was ... odd. The tuna itself was very good and fresh but they topped it off with ranch dressing?
For mains, we had Risotto con Lomo Saltado and the Spaghetti a la Huancaina con Lomo. The spaghetti sauce honestly tasted like someone took Kraft mac & cheese powder and made the sauce. It had the same color as well. We've had huancaina sauce in many other places and this was definitely not it. The risotto was a bit of the same, it really felt like someone used Kraft cheese powder to cook both of these dishes. The meat also came out well done despite us asking for it medium rare.
Service was fine. To be honest, it was the most lukewarm and do the bare minimum service we had received during our week in Panama City. I'm not quite sure what all the hype is about because this was probably the weakest Peruvian...
Read moreSegundo Muelle en San Francisco, best Peruvian restaurant in Panama. Best service ever, from the valet parking, to the greeters, even though we didn't have a reservation, they opened a private room for us. Pisco sours to kill for( Passion fruit was the best one). Ceviche out of this world, Jalea mixta ( chicharrones mixtos) yummy, parihuela, seafood pasta to die for, but the best Fried Snapper, super tasty, well seasoned, crunchy and lemony( no need to go to the Amador causeway). People, please come and enjoy this peruvian cuisine, you will enjoy everything, from the beginning to the end. And special thanks to Freddy, our maitre, he was excellent on his food suggestions and knows how to treat the public. And for sure we will come back, every time we are in...
Read moreThis is a franchise of a well known restaurant in Peru, as such we thought it would be good, but we were sadly mistaken, the waiters had an I don't care attitude the prices are ridiculously high, and the ceviche tasted like nothing! The Leche de tigre, (I ordered the tres ajies) which is what makes ceviche, was bland and watery. The atmosphere is fine, but I don't go to a restaurant for atmosphere, but for the food, and I will not be going back...
