I used to eat here in the late 90’s and it was always a premium treat. Things have certainly changed with the years. Still pricey but the quality has lowered noticeably. I didn’t have a huge appetite so I chose not to order a steak as the sizes were too big and I didn’t want to waste food. I ordered the pork chop and my father ordered the Corvina al ajillo. As stated before all of the sides are extra so we had 2 salad bars. The salad bar was very basic and poorly presented…iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, onions, two dressings. You expect a bit more for $8 and at this caliber of restaurant. Honestly, my dad was hesitant to return to the restaurant as he had an experience in the past where they simply added a tip/service charge to the bill with no notice. I convinced him to try again because when I visit Panama I get nostalgic for places I loved in the past. Well they got us again. The bill arrived it was $88 inclusive of tax. I also noted that short poured house Malbec was $11 per glass and bread was charged. We paid $100 in cash and the waiter returned with only $2 in change. The other $10 was not noted on the check as tip/service fee but he tried to justify it as such. My Spanish is bad but my math is not. My father and I are actually generous tippers but that should be at your discretion and if it is charged as policy it should be clearly stated on the bill. He actually missed out as he would have earned more had he not automatically short changed us. All in all the memories I had from the past are still good but after this experience I feel I would be loca to come again. I will try other options for good steaks in Panama and wouldn’t recommend the...
Read moreOffering an above average cuisine choice, however very lacking in customer service. The first time there we requested a menu in English. One was provided to share for three guests. Food was above average, and the atmosphere was acceptable. Bill presented was higher than posted and calculated for one item, $8.00 higher 14.oz Angus Ribeye. We didn't make much of it. Paid bill left without complaining. The next day, we went back with a larger group, 6 people, and the same one English menu was presented to be shared by all. One member of our group ordered the same 14oz ribeye, others their choice of meal. Ready to pay our bill, we were presented with another incorrect bill. At this point, I requested to speak with the manager on duty. We were told by our server that the manager had left for the night. That being a blatant lie. The manager was in the restaurant hiding out sight. The crux of the problem was that the English menu presented was three years old with outdated pricing. A supervisor finally came to discuss the discrepancy, and he attempted to justify the pricing by showing us the Spanish menu with the higher prices. Any establishment that won't ensure that they can provide adequate accurate menus to serve multi lingual patrons in a high tourist market is not worthy of your patronage. SHAME ON YOU LOS ANOS LOCOS PANAMA CITY! I QUESTION WHETHER THERE MAY NOT HAVE ALSO BEEN...
Read moreThe food was good, but their service needs to be improved If you go to this restaurant by your car, then you might need to consider that you’d have bad service there. Their valet parking service is awful. They only informed a specific place to park, which was incorrect when I asked about parking and did not mention anything about valet parking service. The concierge guy came to the table when I took a seat inside the restaurant and just said I should not park there. Even though I had already explained what happened, he just kept mentioning the same thing, so I tried to explain better in English, but he ignored what I was saying and never admitted their negligence. His attitude was very rude and not respectful(If you’re not a native Spanish speaker, then he might treat you the same), or he was just not in the mood to work(so negligence or lack of work ethic) That was my first impression of the restaurant. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel comfortable with their service because of the concierge guy, although their food was pretty good. The service could have...
