I was really keen to visit a traditional picantería, and after reading all the glowing reviews, I decided to check this one out. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I appreciated the little glass of chicha they brought out for me to try.
I ordered the rocoto relleno as I hadn’t had it before. It was a bit pricier than expected, though the portion was generous. Unfortunately, I found the meat inside the pepper a little chewy, and the potato gratin — while tasty — could’ve been warmer as it had clearly been reheated.

We shared all dishes as its indeed big portions as mentioned by everyone. We had a welcome chicha drink on arrival and sat on the roof terrace. We were the only tourists, the staff was really lovely and service was actually quick. The price is also very good value for money. We had a great lunch for 50 soles. Luckily for us, a traditional live band came up to play for everyone during lunch too. Cherry on top of...
